We are planning a Thanksgiving week trip to WDW & DC/SW family trip and I need some advice. We are traveling with my parents age 77 & 75, my mom is not doing the dolphin swim and will not be getting in the water anywhere. My husband is against us paying extra for the cabana but I feel that she might be more comfortable with a shady place to hang out while the rest of us are in the water. He read that there are plenty of places with shade, cabana's aren't needed. Is there places with shade all day? Would you recommend the cabana, there will be 7 of us total, if we got one for her would they make us get two since we have more than 6 in our party even though the kids will not be hanging out there? Thanks for the help and advice!

Theres definitely chairs and stuff all over the park and a lot of it is shaded but not all of it. Also I'd imagine that holiday times there will probably be really busy so any shaded area will probably be claimed quickly. I would advise you to go with the cabana only because of it being busy. That way you know its there when you need it and grandma can still come out and watch you guys in the pools or whatever and then go back to it as needed rather than moving around and giving up a shady spot then not being able to find one again. And even though you say the kids won't be using the cabana you may find it nice anyway because you'll have a very specific meet up/check in area rather than "meet us by the umbrella...no not that one, this one!"

We really enjoyed our cabana rental. And I wouldn't hesitate to get one if we had a couple of seniors travelling with us. You are assigned a personal cabana assistant who checks in throughout the day to see if there's anything you need, bring you snacks and drinks, etc. Knowing that grandma would have a little company on and off while the rest of the family enjoys the park would be a real comfort for me (if I were in your shoes).

Thank you so much, after reading both my hubby agrees. A cabana is a must for their comfort as well as ours, a grumpy mil is not good! ;-)
