I've read so many different opinions on this place but I don't know whih to believe. So, I was wondering if anyone has stayed here and found it semi-comfortable? I would be staying four nights and three days where a majority of my time would be spent at the parks.

it is cheap and doable since you won't be there except to sleep at night.

I've not been, but I resarched it on my upcoming trip. I have a Wyndham rewards card and get points at staying at their hotel properties (Days Inn included). The Days Inn near Universal got HORRIBLE reviews on all of the travel sites I looked at. I ended up booking at the Wingate Inn, which is just about as close to Universal as the Days Inn, and not too much more in price. Wingate got really good ratings on those same travel sites, and I still get my rewards points there.

I'll be staying for 5 nights upcoming, and definitely did not want to take a chance at a scary hotel!

If this is the one on the other side of Kirkman rd. on Caravan Ct. then all I can say is I stayed there about 10 years ago and the hotel looked incredibly old back then,so unless they tore it down and rebuilt it it can't be in the greatest of shape. There are literally well over a hundred good hotels near the International Drive area with very good prices,I've probably stayed in close to half of the hotels in the area and many of them are in new to near new condition with amenities like free breakfast with prices like $30-$70 depending on if you go during peak or slow times.

If you are talking about the one on caravan ct ,I have stayed there many times in the past, (98-2003) , never had any problems. It is a budget hotel
though, rooms were always clean, maid service was good. they do have a deep pool with a tiki bar(seasonal). For the price its worth it if you are on a tight budget.(gtahotels .com $26.00 ) I would recomend extended stay america on major blvd.Very clean well maintained hotel with a kitchen.
You can usally find rates around $40-45.00 .

If it is the one right down from the doubletree I would also say find somewhere else cause it does look pretty run down

i stayed at that hotel some years back for 2 nights.

i extended my vacation and had to go offsite a few days.

like i said earlier, if all you are going to do is sleep, it is doable.
i had noise problems and limited maid service when i was there.

it was cheap so i lived with any issues i had.

their shuttle was kind of high for the short distance.
it also was limited on the number of peeps they could take.
we had to sign up the night prior to get our seat on the van for the trip to UO.

to the op: it depends on what you really want out of an off site hotel.
do you want amenities, close to the park, restaurants near by, shuttle, pool, etc........

or do you really just want a bed for the night?

We stayed one night at The Baymont Inn on Major Blvd just last week. It was clean, cheap and right across the street from Universal. I think we paid $50/night. Plus there is an Orland Ale House right by it that served up some pretty good food.

Go to tripadvisor.com. I have NEVER been let down by the reviews on there. Stayed 3 nights in a $30/night motel near Sea World and it was cleaner than, and as well equipped as, the 4* I stayed in last week.

Stayed there last few HHN's and it was cheap. I even walked to Universal. Keep in mind that Dennys is no longer there and some Indian restaurant took place. I'd get another hotel next time.

The only issue I'm running into with the other hotels are that the check-in age is 21. All four of us going are 18 so we need to be ale to book a hotel that will let us check-in at that age. If you know of any other alternatives that are within walking distance to US/IOA and are around the same price range, that would be great!

Thanks

Extended Stay America allows 18yr olds to check in.

Stayed at the Days Inn on International Dr (Not sure which one your talking about)

To me it had 1970's written all over it. Pool was small and not heated. Arcade and might as well say lobby closes early. And 6 ice machines that dont give ice. Rooms were small, smelled and were noisy from sounds from other rooms.

I stay at RodeWay Inn, corner of Kirkman and International. Great price and amenities. Bar is good with pool tables too. Newly remodeled 'heated' pool that doesnt close till 10pm. Two small 24hour arcades (which are pretty damned fun after you leave the bar :D). Rooms are also a good size with 2 queens, fridge and microwave. Bathroom area is very small, but how much time do you really spnd there. Its only one mile from the parking garage at Universal and right now its only $51 a night including tax and fees.

I might be able to give a decent review of the place considering as a victim of circumstance the adage "you won't spend much time there" unfortunately didn't ring true for me.

We were on a budget and we had actually seen the Days Inn on our previous trip and not only did the rates look good but the location was perfect.

So prior to our next trip I sought it out (I live in the UK, the Days Inn has not been listed in any brochure I've seen over here) and got a good rate and booked, read the horror stories and obviously got a little concerned. Although, almost exactly the same thing happened with our previous trip when we chose to stay at Best Western (since renamed/took over/whatever) and it was far better than we expected.

Same this time round. Clearly it's not 5 *. If you're paying the good rate you are off your trolley expecting such. The worst problems we had were a) a loose socket on the wall, b) the room key swipes, and c) rather boisterous neighbours.

Can't remember what happened with the socket (what a bad memory) though I think it was the first day and we were moved immediately. The room keys were a continual problem and I guess a minor annoyance but the place isn't big enough for you to get truly annoyed and going back and forth. The neighbours were a little annoying because they seemed disrespectful of others wanting to sleep (staying up and fighting/arguing/being loud until the early hours) but that wasn't really a fault of the hotel.

We stayed for 2 1/2 weeks and for almost the entire last week my fiancé got really ill and was essentially bedridden for the last few days. As such I couldn't really go out and enjoy Orlando so I/we had to stay in the room for long periods of time and of course aside from the boredom and frustration there was nothing I could say I found as fault with the room.

All hotels have their problems of course but I suppose it's all relative - people are naturally more inclined to complain than praise so lower class hotels and motels quite often get a bad rap. In my opinion of course!

What I will say as vindication is that we're going out to get married in Orlando this time next year and for the majority of our stay we plan to use the Days Inn. Furthermore, we'll be recommending that to a lot of our guests too.

Tried to keep this as relevant to the hotel as possible without taking into account the advantage of the location.

I was going to book this place for our Dec. trip, but I lucked into the Hyatt Place on Caravan Ct. for only $60/night.

The Days Inn looked OK as a place just to crash, but not the kind of rooms you want to hang out in much. We went on TONS of vacations to Disney when I was a kid (in the 80s) and always stayed in a budget place b/c all we did in the room was sleep and shower. Now that I travel with DH, we do spend some "grown-up" time in the room [wink, wink] so we like a place that is not quite so budget.
