Day trip

Hello, we are looking for ideas of something to do on our arrival day. We will be flying from Oregon, leaving at 6am and landing at 8:30am. We are assuming that our hotel will not be ready, so we are thinking of taking a day trip somewhere. Our kids will be exhausted, so we are hoping for maybe an hour and a half drive to wherever we go so that the kids can take a nap. Any suggestions of places to go for the day? Thank you!

Which airport?

If it's LAX or Burbank, then I like Exposition Park. There's a rose garden, the LA Coliseum, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and the California Science Center. The latter has the Space Shuttle Endeavour, which requires a nominal fee (maybe $2.50 now?) for a timed ticket. The rest of the museum is free.

I think the kids would like the California Science Center. It may not do any one thing great outside of the Shuttle, but it has a lot of little things that can make for a fun visit. They have a small aquarium section, stuff on aviation, etc.

They open at 10 AM, and the only dining in the building is a McDonald's. Strike that, I looked it up and there's no longer that McDonald's.

That is a great idea but we are flying into Orange County and we went to the science museum in April to see endeavor.
