May of 2009 will mark our 2nd trip to our home resort of BWV. We stayed in a 1br standard this past january and loved it.

For 2009 we are going in may because it will be warmer for our then 2 year old son.

Should I book our 1br standard day to day? If so, how do I go about doing that? Will I need to tell MS what I am doing and look to see if there will be availability?

Is may a busy time for DVC?

I don't think you'd need to for May - we've been successful making one call reservations for a BWV Standard Two Bedroom in October during Food and Wine - not that I'd advise doing that - I've been lucky. But its easy to make day by day reservations and, except for the bother of multiple calls, doesn't hurt and adds a little insurance.

Call eleven months out from the day after you check in (say you want to check in May 11th, call June 12th). Let the MS CM know you'll be making a day by day reservation. They'll probably ask for the checkout date at that point. Call every day until you are all booked up. MS works some magic, turns it into a seamless reservation, and sends you a single confirmation. You may ask what availability looks like - and may be told - "we don't expect to fill, you don't need to call until the end of the week" - but their crystal ball is only slightly better than ours - they know how fast they've been going for the previous few days.

I agree with Crisi I would call the first day, and ask how it's looking for the rest of the week...

Of course I would still call day by day, but that's just me. :rotfl:

I'm planning a boardwalk view for the same week (studio). I'm just planning on calling once, 11 months from the check-out day. That's not a real popular time. Especially for a 1 bedroom, they usually go last. They really couldn't tell you "how it looks" on the first day because no one could have booked the remaining days yet. If it's going to make you nervous, then do the day by day. You just tell them on the first day and they will hold your reservation open. They will ask for your final check-out day. Then you call everyday and they just extend the reservation. On the last day they will close the reservation and send you the confirmation.

I just did this for Christmas time, and it was very painless. I called at 9am every morning to change from SSR to BWV. They were able to tell me that there was only one available, so I had to call early. The call on the first day lasted maybe ten minutes, but every day after that, it lasted maybe 2 minutes. They were incredibly efficient! Good luck!:thumbsup2

We took a trip in May 2007 and stayed in a one bedroom standard view. I'm not sure when I called (probably in the 7-11 month priority window), but I didn't call day-by-day.

I booked my March 2009 trip in a BWV standard view studio all at one time. We closed on our contract too late to book day by day. I called 11 months before the day before we wanted to check out and was told there was plenty of availability so I waited and called back the next day and booked the entire trip at once with no problem.

I have to admit I probably would have called day by day if I had gotten my points in time to do that but it wasn't necessary.

I booked my DGF's trip for March '09 for a 2 bedroom standard view 10 months out, and I did it all at once. I wanted feedback from everyone because most of these are borrowed points. There still could be problems, I know, some could cancel, but I didn't want to wait more than 10 months out, since DGF's really wanted BWV.

I booked our 4/20/2008 - 5/2/2008 trip in a one bedroom standard view with just one call. You don't have to call day by day for May, especially since you want a 1 bedroom. Those seem to fill a little more slowly than the studios and 2 bedrooms.

Call day by day if you feel at all nervous about it - better to call than to make yourself crazy worrying about it. But if you forget to call one of the days or can't call every day, don't worry about it. You'll be fine.
