Day Bag for Disney...post your pictures, please!

If you can, post some pictures. I'd love to see what you were able to fit into them and how they looked afterwards (just perfect, bulky, etc).

How "waterproof" are any of these bags? When we go during the summer - we like to bring lots of water with us and we try to bring ones that have ice in them - so the drinks tend to "sweat" - My dh carried them in a backpack last year and we made sure to put them inside a plastic bag and we threw in a hotel hand towel to soak up the condensation.

I'm thinking those frozen water bags (like Camelbaks?) would be good to keep us hydrated - we aren't doing the meal plan - and although we will eat some meals in the parks - stopping to purchase water for everyone several times a day isn't exactly my idea of a good time. We tried the water from the drink fountains - it was repulsive. My kids won't drink fruity coolaid type stuff so bringing those drink mix in things isn't an option either - LOL!

I'm considering getting and Overland "Donner bag" also as the bag I had ordered when I received it, it was just way too big for what I need so I've returned it. I've emailed shoebuy.com though and asked them some questions as I want to see if this bag will be big enough for my slr & a couple lenses, ponchos, wallet, sunglasses, and a few other odds and ends we may need.

I have been searching for the "perfect bag for me" for our upcoming trip. I use to use a Vera Bradley backpack and loved it. Now I was looking for something smaller. I am also a VB junkie and just love the slip in pockets on the inside of the bags. It keeps everything so organized! I just bought this bag:

It is perfect! It fits exactly what I need it to and I won't feel like I'm lugging too much around. This time I am trying to bring less into the parks. I am lucky that I will be bringing a lightweight stroller for DS(4) so I will have a basket underneath for our jackets and anything we buy.

I bought this one for WDW this year as well, but in the Capri Melon. I have a bag I've used several times that I got at Disneyland Paris that is absolutely perfect :worship:(so perfect, I bought a spare)! This VB bag is about the same size so I know it will be plenty big enough but I think with the cotton it will be cooler than the one from DLP and the bag itself is so light, it'll be better for my back  Since fall, I've used the VB Vera bag for school and even with all my books and weight on one shoulder, my back has felt better than with any of my backpacks  . Can't wait to try it out!

Dangit. I just had to click on those Vera Bradley links. Too cute! I love the Capri Melon fabric. Two thoughts, though - 1) I don't think my husband would look too good with one of these and if we bought a plain backpack the could wear it, 2) Do you match your outfit to it or it like Crocs? I was planning on sticking to the nautical look for the trip (red, white, blue, khaki, black), but I love that Capri Melon fabric! Thoughts?

The Capri Melon fabric is so nice!! It looks even better in person!LOL I just picked up a wallet in that fabric. I am waiting till I get alittle extra cash so I can buy the Villager in Capri Melon to match my new wallet!! I do like to match them with my Crocs sometimes. But, for the trip I went with the Peacock fabric because it is darker in color. I figure if I drop it or it hits the floor at any time it will not show any dirt. Also, with 2 kids my stuff tends to get these spots that just appear out of now where!LOL;) I am always the one holding the bag on trips so I don't have to worry about the colors if DH would hold it or not. One of the reasons why I love VB is they can be washed!! I have washed some of my VB bags and they come out terrific.

If you are trying to be matchy and want that nautical look the Nantucket Navy is a nice choice. Also, sometimes you can get the bags alittle cheaper on Ebay. They are very popular on Ebay, but I have had luck getting bags new for about $5 cheaper. Hey, every bit counts! I seem to do better with getting the wallets for a lot cheaper. Here's a link to the Nantucket Navy fabric:

You don't have to match your VB bag with what you are wearing. They are so pretty and stand out on their own. I would just get the color you want.

Thanks Desnik! I think I'll have to check these out in the store to get a sense of size and color. I like the Peacock color you chose too. Did you see that they have Capri Melon sandals and hat? I could see this becoming an obsession. Too bad our trip is before Mother's Day. A VB bag would make a cute Mother's Day gift. Maybe I'll have to get a bag and base my trip wardrobe around that instead. ha

well everyone has convinced me to get one of the overland donner bags. Especially with the price that shoebuy.com has it for when you register :) So now I'm just waiting for the bag to arrive. I'm getting it in black. That way Alan won't mind carrying it either if I need him to.

Oh I saw all the new stuff! The flip flops, hats, beach towels, and so much more. They have everything! It has become an obsession and I have been buying them for over a year now and have too many!LOL I have 2 stores near me that sell them and I often go in to just admire them and check out all the different style bags. I have even bought DD(9) her own couple of bags! They have little ones that are too cute! Most Hallmark stores have them so if you have one near you check it out. They have so many styles and alot of them are great day bags for the parks.

Looks like a lot of us purchased the Donner bag over the weekend. I just got an email for ebags that mine has shipped today. YEAH, I'm so happy and I can't wait for it to come.

I have a backpack cooler (called Picnic Time Zuma) which was very reasonable ($11.94 off of ebags with the mousesavers discount and google checkout). It is a cooler and bag in one (two separate compartments). Perfect for the parks. Larger than the Overland Donner Bag but we need something to keep our drinks cold.

Here are the pictures of the bag I got- Its backpack style so it won't bother my back or shoulder, Its a unisex color on the outside so the dbf won't mind sharing the load and its compact with organizer pockets (I especially like the ones that will be against my back for extra security). It also has a side water bottle pocket as well. Its from the QVC Travelon line.

I used my donner overland bag this weekend on a trial run. Since we was going on a day trip to the aquarium. I love the bag! Love the fact that I can carry it across my body. The only thing I would improve is for it to have some kind of shoulder strap to keep it from digging in. However, I found a pretty cheap solution to that. I got one of the seat belt covers from walmart that keep the seatbelt from digging in that I am putting on the bag. It is very roomy and not a huge bag. This weekend I had my pocket camera, my dslr and 2 lenses, extra batteries & memory card, my wallet, cell phone, and sunglasses; with plenty of room yet.

Lots of people on these boards like the Baggallini messanger bags (do a search and you will find post and pics). They go across the body and are smallish.

I dont like across the chest type bags. I just got a Travelon convertible backpack/shoulder bag from QVC. One zip of the strap switches it from backpack to shoulder bag. The pocket that goes against your back has credit card, pen slots and a zippered mesh pocket. On each side in the middle of the bag are vertical zippered pockets to store a camera (a big one), etc. Next there is a magnetic closure pocket with a velcro pouch for a small cell phone. Some worry about the magnet affecting credit cards, etc but people who own it said it wasnt a problem. The front of the bag has another zippered pocket.

The item #F0521 and the link: http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail There are pictures of it and color samples there too. I havent seen this style anywhere else. I got the black (ordered it Sunday, paid $4 extra for fast shipping and it came Tues-a day earlier than they said). The taupe will probably show dirt faster. Some have suggested spraying Scotchguard on it as well. Baggalllini makes a similar version, but didnt have as many pockets and was smaller. Plus it had a magnetic closure on the main pocket which worried me.

Is this bag big enough to hold some snacks and extra clothes for the kids? Also, do you think you can hang it on the back of an umbrella stroller?

Here is my bag....baggallini!

I could not get over the amount of pockets and storage this little bag has!

Plus, you can see me coming with that color!!

This bag looks great. HOw big is the dry compartment. Large enough for some snacks and extra clothes for the DDs? How do you get the mousesaver discount?

I bought this bag today from Target. I got it in black for $9.99! It has a lot of sections which is perfect for cards, camera, batteries, ponchos, keys, etc. I can wear it on my shoulder or across my body.
