Your Cast of Characters:

Me, 44 year old mother & grandmother: Planner & financier of this trip who ate PB&J & bologna sandwiches and did rewards programs for ten months saving for the trip.

DD, Jess, 28: Poster child for premenstral syndrome and offical spoiler of trip. Seriously, she gets pms BAD & won't take medicine.

DGD, Skye, 7 turning 8 on 11/15: The most well behaved, sweetest granddaughter any grandmother could ask for. Loves rollercoasters & Pen trading.

Wednesday October 30th:

It was really cloudy when we woke up this morning. Our plans were to try to be at MK about an hour before it opened to see if Skye could "open MK" like she did last year when her and I came. We had a PS for breakfast at the castle at 9:10am too. We took turns showering.

While Jess was doing Skye's hair, she said that if we didn't mind, she wanted to just go eat at the castle then come back to the resort & chill. She didn't feel good, I could tell. I didn't want to burn a hopper day of our 5 day hoppers for just a meal at the castle. I suggested that we skip the breakfast & MK altogether and do parks on our last day instead of having our nonpark day that day. Skye was such an angel and told us that she didn't have to eat in the castle and she didn't have to open the park. Jess cried. I told them we'd try to eat in the castle before we left, but it never happened.

We had a PS for breakfast at Boma the next day, but I suggested we go down and see if we could get in today instead. They got us in no problem. I sampled a lot of the "different stuff" but didn't really care much for anything. The frunch was very tastey though. I ended up having the chelf make me an omlett and that was good. Otherwise, we didn't care any more for Boma breakfast than we did for dinner. While we were eating it started to rain. Now we were glad we didn't go to the park.

After dinner, we just lounged around the resort. Skye took in some of the activities and I explored and took pictures of the resort. We didn't do much at all until it was time to get ready for the Hoop Dee Doo.

I knew Skye would like the show but I was kinda worried Jess wouldn't. We took the bus to MK, then the boat to FW. We had some time to kill so Skye played on the playground and Jess & I enjoyed a beer on the porch of Trails End. We ended up having a table in the balcony so I was a little disappointed, but it ended up being good seats right behind the light guy. The girls enjoyed the food and the show and Jess got picked to be the can-can girl in the show. Skye really got a kick out of that! Jess got a picture and certificate and had a good time. I was releved.

When we were leaving, Skye said something had bitten her finger. We found a restroom where we could have light. Her finger really scarred us. There were two bite places together...like a spider bite but it had to have been a big spider because the places were about a quarter inch apart. The bumps were raised and hard with a red spec in the middle...not at all like mosquito bites. Skye said it itched and her finger was red all around it. I didn't know quite what to do. I knew about first aid stations at the parks, but knew nothing about any other first aid stations around the resorts. Jess is a surgical tech and knows a little medical stuff and there was a nurse in the bathroom with us that suggested having her take some benadryl and keeping an eye on it.

I'd had benadryl on my packing list, but ended up not buying any because "we never use the stuff" so I paid almost $9 for it at AKL. That's okay, as long as it helped Skye. I was sort of afraid for Skye to even go to sleep, but she didn't have any effects from whatever it is that bit her. She still to this day has the bumps though. We call it the Hoop Dee Doo spider.

All in all a pretty good day this day. :smooth:

Sorry about Skye's HDD spider bite:(

Glad you made the best of the day tho!

Your secret is safe with us Jennymouse! Keep on Posting!!!!

Jennymouse thank you so much for posting. I can't believe Skye still has the marks from the spider bite. Luckily you all kept calm because it would have freaked me out. My daughter and I always seem to attract all kinds of pests and we are very allergic to any bites mosquito, spider etc. They usually get swollen to 5x the normal size , at the very least. My daughter's most serious spider bit (on her face) did not go away for 2 weeks and she still has a very light mark the side of her face from it. Luckily I always have some type of topical antihistimine with me like Benadryl gel or creme or sometimes hydrocortisone works pretty well. I am glad to here it did not ruin your vacation.

You are a saint I think it is wonderful that you put up with your daughter's attitude or moodiness to benefit your granddaughter. Made me think of my own poor mother. I can be such a pain in the *** but I'll do anything for my daughter. My mother and I don't always see eye to eye but I love her dearly and I don't believe I thank her enough for all the help with my daughter. She always accompanies me to DLR when my husband can't make it. I wouldn't have near as much fun without her. I think I will call her tonight to thank her for just being grandma.

Skye is a lucky little girl.

Take care

MandaMom
