Cast: Me - DH 25 & Her - DW 24
Date: Spring Break (March 17 - 24)
We started off the second day by rejoining our normal Disney routine - purchasing various juices from the Old Port Royale store and getting breakfast from the food court. DW always has a bagel with cream cheese and I always opt for the Blueberry pancakes - it's always nice to see a hidden Mickey in your breakfast. After finishing that - it was a short bus ride to Animal Kingdom. Now, I admit, we did get off to a bit of a late start - resulting in our tardy arrival at AK (almost opening time) - AND, due to it being Spring Break and all, the entrance was crowded! DW starting hunting for a better line to stand in and, low and behold, she found a spot only 7 people back from the front of the line!
First stop - the Safari. As always, one of our favorite rides, and this was no exception. The animals were active and plentiful - though our ally that helped save 'Lil Red was less than enthusiastic (strange since this was first thing in the morning). After the ride was over, we went over to the Jungle Trek for a behind the scenes look at some of the animals we missed.
We decided to stop by Rafiki's Conservation station to learn a bit more about the impressive quality of care that the animals enjoy. I mean - those animals were getting better healthcare than some humans do! My brother went to a doctor once for an ingrown toenail - who proceeded to repair it without numbing anything up - I believe my brother said the doctor's exact words were "Hold him down!" - lol. Little did we know that we would have the opportunity to do our favorite barnyard passtime - petting goats & sheep! The goat petting area was scarcely visited that morning, so we knew that single handedly we had to make these goats feel loved. So after much petting and brushing, the goats certainly had bigger smiles than when we arrived.
Off to Asia for another look at the animals - I couldn't believe the size of those bats! How'd you like one of those in your attic? We didn't feel like being soaked first thing in the morning, so we got our tickets for It's Tough to Be a Bug. Last time we had front row seats, which detracts a bit from the 3d experience, so this time we selected more centralized seats. What a difference! It was quite an experience and we were far more attentive to the bugs on the sidewalks, etc afterwards
We headed over to Dinosaur and had an excellent time - truly one of my favorite rides. Then, as we departed, DW pointed out that her whole purpose for the trip was to ride Primeval Whirl during the "soft opening" (remember this was March - so it hadn't opened yet). We went over and gawked and the light blue contraption, as the cars spun and whirled about. DW was drooling by this point, so we asked a CM if they were doing rides that day and were turned down. We left discouraged, but determined to come back later in the trip to try again.
As noon approached we decided to head over to Magic Kingdom for the afternoon. We hit some of the rides, determined to make a dent in the monumental amount of things to see/ride/do at MK. We went to Pirates of the Caribbean, looked for a skull and crossbones bandana for DW to be a pirate, got a pinapple ice cream float just outside Jungle Cruise (very tasty) before heading on the cruise. Watched the afternoon parade and attended the Hall of Presidents.
At dinner time we headed back to the resort to relax and have some food - watched Illuminations from the resort and got ready for our next day!
Day Three Soon!
