Relaxing Day
Wed planned to have a non-park day today and have a bit of a lie in. Ha. The families from hell have arrived next door and further along the building some-where. Waaaay before 8am there was running and shouting outside the room and loud knocking on the door next door. Keep your voices down!! (this was the only noisy morning the parks must have worn them out!)
When theyd departed for the day (woo hoo) we dozed off for a bit longer. The nights are really catching up!
We had breakfast at Dennys and nipped into Goodings at Crossroads for lunch-time sandwiches.
We spent all day by the pool and had lunch back in the room.
Having read about Sweet Tomatoes thats where we headed for dinner.
Weve never been on International Drive at night it was SO busy. Im glad we went because I saw some places Id read about Wonderworks, Skull Kingdom, Ripleys Believe it or Not but its not somewhere Id want to stay if thats how busy it gets!
Anyway, on with dinner when we eventually got there!
Sweet Tomatoes is on the corner of International Drive and Kirkman Road. As Im sure many before us have done, and many after us will do, we turned left into Kirkman Road. There is NO entrance from Kirkman Road you just get further away! We ended up on the Florida Turnpike for a few miles until we spotted the service area thankfully because we needed fuel! Now this service area is placed in the middle of the 2 directions of traffic this seemed strange at first but then we realised it was wonderfully logical. After all, only one service area is needed rather than 2, one either side, or one with a bridge from the other side. Enough of my ramblings! The other advantage, of course, is that we were able to go round the service area and join the Turnpike on the other side thus eventually leading us to Sweet Tomatoes. We asked for directions when we went to pay for the fuel, Im not saying lots of folk get caught out with this, but the man had a pile of little slips of paper with the directions printed on them for getting back to Intl Drive!
Sweet Tomatoes was one of the best meals weve had this holiday hate to say it but we all preferred it to Bomas if we had to make a choice.
There was a HUGE salad bar, 2 pizzas, 3 pastas, 6 soups, baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, 2 types of bread - I absolutely loved the cornbread
and loads of desserts:- frozen yogurt, chocolate lava cake, muffins, brownies oh and some fruit
Not bad for just under $38.
We would go again but our waistlines really could not take it we need to fit into our clothes for the return journey home!
When we arrived back in our room the kids went straight to bed with the TV on and we, being sensible parents that we are, went for a walk round the resort.
