The Participants: Myself - KCDISDAD
Spouse - Joann, Wife of 22 years.
DD7 - Casey, The one with the attitude.
DD5 - Amy, The shy one.
The big day has finally arrived. We left the house at 6:00 am for the airport and experienced a very uneventful ontime SWA flight. We get to the rent-a-car desk and get our first bit of good news-an upgrade to a Mini-Van.
We arrived at the WL about 2:00 pm (WOW!!!) and I checked us in while the girls explored The Lodge. I asked about being a Flag Family, but everyday was already booked. Our room was not ready, so we went to Roaring Fork$ for a light lunch and our refillable mug$. Afterwards, our room was ready and we went straight up to unpack. Room 5032 is a wood$ view with a view of the Castle cut out of the trees, the Otter Pond right below us, and the elevator down to RF right across the hall (exactly what I had requested on my fax). Next we went down to the pool for a quick swim. Casey went down the slide numerous times and Amy got so excited when she spotted the geyser going off.
We ate dinner that night at Whi$pering Canyon Cafe. Casey joined in the antics by racing the stick horse around the restaurant and running ketchups to tables without any. A guy at the table next to us had a birthday and his buddy kept bugging the waitress for a freebie so she announced his intentions to everyone in the restaurant and made him gallop around the entire retaurant and lobby on a stick horse while singing Happy Birthday to his friend. The entertainment I'm sorry to announce was better than the food. We all got the skillet dinner-Joann liked the ribs the best, myself, I cleaned out the pulled pork. The girls nibbled at the corn but were far too interested in the goings on around them as well as their milkshakes to eat much else. Our waiter George after seeing our little Amy said he would only charge us for one of the kids skillets-nice touch.
After dinner we decided to head over to MK for the SpectroMagic Parade. They had major problems with one of the boats at the dock and therefore got severely backed up, causing us to arrive at MK just as the parade was starting. I don't have to tell you vets that this is not the ideal time to arrive. We tried to get to Frontierland to get ahead of the parade (I now know how salmon feel) but kept running into dead ends. We finally found a spot near the Castle where Amy could watch from my shoulders and Casy could stand on a fence rail and balance against Joann. The girls absolutely loved it. Amy (our excessively shy one) even waved to Cinderella. We took the boat back to WL to watch the fireworks from our balcony as it had already been a long day. We had to run up to the room and got there just in time to see the Grande Finale.
We all showered and listened to Monsters Inc. on the bedtime channel and fell immediately asleep. A great start to a wonderful trip.
