Hi Everyone,

I love reading this board and hearing everyone's experiences at the World. Here goes my version!

Players: Ike (DH) 41 - 2nd trip to World
Stinkerbelle 5 (DD) - 2nd trip to World
Me - 39 - 2nd trip to World - 4 trips to Disneyland

March 1 - After a long plane ride from Minneapolis due to thunderstorms in Florida that left us circling for a while we were more than happy to be in Orlando. It was hot and muggy and felt wonderful!

Got our Chevy Blazer from National and we were on our way to HIFS. Check in at noon was a breeze - only waited for one other person. There was a cheerleaders U.S. Open that weekend so the lobby was filled with groups of cheerleaders. They were only there for the first two nights and then gone. (I know because our room was poolside and the noise level went way down after they left!) But otherwise the girls seemed to be on their best behavior and I hope they had as much fun as we did.

Got a great room "Disney Suite" which has a cute mural of the Disney parks in the kidsuite area. Stinkerbelle was pretty excited about it. The room was poolside and we were not asked to pay extra for it! I thought the young lady that checked us in was really sweet and went out of her way to get us a nice room. Only request I made was no "clown" room. (We had that last year and it scared the daylights out of Stinkerbelle!)

Sunday (March 2) we were off to Animal Kingdom for the first time. I kept telling myself not to get too upset if we really didn't like it after hearing several comments from different people. I loved Animal Kingdom! I can't understand how you could just spend half a day there. Our day was shortened some due to heavy rain for a couple hours in the late afternoon but I know there was so much we didn't see.

We first did the safari ride right away and we saw just about every animal they have. Line was about 10 minutes max. What a great ride. Stinkerbelle was a little nervous at first - kind of bumpy but she thought it was fun after she got the hang of it. So exciting to see the animals. After that we took the train ride to see the petting zoo. Not a whole lot out in the petting zoo area but the train ride was fun.

Stinkerbelle was starting to go down hill at this point - it was very hot and we had to get our vacation mindset straight. Basically since Stinkerbelle eats like a bird we have to remind ourselves that we need to slow down and get her little snacks even if we aren't hungry yet. We also had to remind Stinkerbelle to keep drinking water.

We ate at the Tusker House - food was good. CM at the Tusker was rude to Ike. He asked about the meal deal and if we could buy our coupons there, etc. The CM was in a huff and said they hadn't got them yet - so Ike asked when they would get them and she had a cow. Anyway, the food was really good despite no meal deal. Ike had the chicken sandwich and fries and I had the salad -which we could have easily split.

We did the Lion King show - great show. Stinkerbelle was a little nervous - it is a little loud. We were in line for the Dinosaurs (like Dumbo) ride when the skies opened and buckets of rain fell. Asked Stinkerbelle whether she really wanted to go or not and she did. We went on the wettest ride I've ever been on! I laughed the whole time and Stinkerbelle was more than annoyed because our Dinosaur didn't seem to cooperate when she wanted to go up or down.

We then checked out the Tarzan Rocks show. It was also loud - bring ear plugs for the little ones. It was good and Ike enjoyed seeing "Jane." Ha! Tarzan wasn't too bad on the eyes either! I actually think Stinkerbelle liked this show better than the Lion King.

We hoped the rain would go away but it wasn't moving so we finally got our family picture on the way out and left. Stinkerbelle was happy to be heading back to the hotel. Stinkerbelle was also having a fit about wearing the disposable rain ponchos we had. Buy a Mickey poncho or bring a raincoat the kids like - it is worth it in the long run if the kiddos will wear it and cooperate.

My take on Animal Kingdom? Despite the rain at the latter part of the day we enjoyed Animal Kingdom. We missed the parade which I'm sure is great. Stinkerbelle was hoping for more kiddie rides so that part was disappointing to her even though I had told her AK is more like a zoo and not very many kiddie rides.

My take on the Dinoland area - I have to agree it is truly ugly. The rest of the park is very pretty and tropical. Although I do think it is nice to have a handful of rides and actually think they need to add a few more even if they are only the carnival type. Only my opinion! Thanks for listening to our first couple days.

:D

...you had a pretty good beginning. About the Dinoland section: it's SUPPOSED to look tacky. They even painted parking lot lines on the ground so that it looks like you are at a church or mall parking lot!! (I do agree with you tho' about it looking ugly! )

he thinks that Esmeralda and Jasmine were hot tomatoes.....hahaha.....I too love AK and all the animals brings the best out in people.....we got a big kick out of the gorillas.....thank you so much for your first few days......
