Well, that was an interesting show. I thought that Oprah seemed pretty rude and arrogant during the first segment with Dave Ramsey. The audience seemed to pick up on that and not applaud much of what he had to say, until later when Oprah thawed a little toward him. Then the audience did too.
I would have liked Dave to have a chance to be more detailed in his advice. I do enjoy his books, but I don't think that the program would have inspired me to buy/seek out his books if I wasn't already familiar with them.
Felt so sorry for that first couple. I thought the husband handled it with about as much class as one could hope for.
Wanted to gag when I listened to the segment on the spoiled teens. Those parents have NO INTENTION of changing a thing, so why were they there?
Totally disagreed with Oprah's heated objection that the one husband shouldn't have necessarily needed to be involved in the financial matters. Huh? Then why do pre-marital counselors emphasize working jointly on finances? Why does she think that so many people have financial secrets from their spouses? Maybe because they aren't working together on finances? Sometimes Oprah seems to consider herself the final authority on human behavior, and then she bugs me.
Other times she makes great points without sounding like a know-it-all, and then I like her fine.
Anyway, I'm glad I videotaped the show and saw it later. Very interesting.
