DAVE RAMSEY on Oprah today

Well, that was an interesting show. I thought that Oprah seemed pretty rude and arrogant during the first segment with Dave Ramsey. The audience seemed to pick up on that and not applaud much of what he had to say, until later when Oprah thawed a little toward him. Then the audience did too.

I would have liked Dave to have a chance to be more detailed in his advice. I do enjoy his books, but I don't think that the program would have inspired me to buy/seek out his books if I wasn't already familiar with them.

Felt so sorry for that first couple. I thought the husband handled it with about as much class as one could hope for.

Wanted to gag when I listened to the segment on the spoiled teens. Those parents have NO INTENTION of changing a thing, so why were they there?

Totally disagreed with Oprah's heated objection that the one husband shouldn't have necessarily needed to be involved in the financial matters. Huh? Then why do pre-marital counselors emphasize working jointly on finances? Why does she think that so many people have financial secrets from their spouses? Maybe because they aren't working together on finances? Sometimes Oprah seems to consider herself the final authority on human behavior, and then she bugs me. Other times she makes great points without sounding like a know-it-all, and then I like her fine.

Anyway, I'm glad I videotaped the show and saw it later. Very interesting. ::yes::

I missed the first segment, and watched most of the last two. I had hoped Dave would go into the baby steps, at least one and two and then referred everyone to his book... Did Oprah give away a free copy of FP to all audience members?

I did feel sorry for the third lady, fiance, when she was crying. Hopefully they can get on the same page and figure things out before they get married. Both Oprah and Dave seemed to be on the same page for that couple.

I am going to listen to his show here in about half an hour so will get some thoughts from him then. I report back if there is anything interesting being said on his radio show today.

Dave Ramsey was out of line on that point and I agreed with Oprah. That man trust his wife and she betrayed him (even though she was very sorrowful about it). He was ambushed by his wife and Oprah and Oprah stepped up to the plate to defend him. I appreciated that.

Dave Ramsey got back on track with the teens. I loved his no-nonsense demanor with them and the parents. He handled them excellently.

I thought she was rude and arrogant, too. She didn't seem to consider Ramsey's viewpoint at all.

Oprah seems to have lost the ability to relate to her average viewer over the last few years. I used to love her show, but now I rarely watch.
