Hey Dave! Thanks for the great blog about the 1/2 Marathon. DH is running it on Saturday and while I'm not a runner, I'm a little jealous. It sure looks like fun!

We didn't buy any of the special chEAR packages or anything fancy but I want to meet him at the finish line. He's told me about what time to expect him but we're still kind of fuzzy on WHERE I go.

We're staying at the Boardwalk so I should be able to cut through the parks easy to get to where I need to be????

Well, I'm not Dave but whether of not you can cut through Epcot will depend on the speed of your husband. You can not enter Epcot until it opens so unless he is a very back of the packer he will be done before opening.

The finish is just outside of Epcot to the left of the park (looking at it from the parking lot) and it is pretty hard to miss. There is the finish area, packet pickup, the family reunion area, and a lot of music and commotion. You can go to this page and see the exact route (including finish) on Google Earth.

If you are looking for some tips on how to see him not only at the finish (get there very early, even with the package it is first come first serve for seating) but once or more along the course check out this thread.

Hi Denise: Frank has good advice, and the thread he directed you to is excellent. He has a lot of experience with the Disney Races.

Yes, the World Showcase entrance to Epcot is not going to open until 11:00am or so. You will need to make your way to the Epcot parking lot. If you get up early, you can ride the resort transportation with your DH to the start. Hang out in the parking lot with him until he goes to his starting corral, and then hop on the monorail to see him running on the course.

Here's what the WDW Marathon program says about spectator transportation. I interpret it to mean you can get a bus at 7am from your resort if you don't want to go with your DH to the start at 4:00am.

Special Marathon Weekend Transportation will begin departure from all other WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resorts at 3:00 a.m. Buses will be indicated by Marathon Weekend Transportation signs placed in the front windows. Participants must board buses by 4:00 a.m. to be on time for the start.

Special Marathon Weekend Transportation will continue throughout the morning for spectators. Marathon Weekend Transportation will be suspended between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday due to race start and road closures.

After the race, bus stops will be set up in the Family Reunion area at Epcot ®. Special Marathon Weekend Transportation from Epcot ® to WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort Hotels concludes at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Finally, at the family reunion area at the finish, tents will be set up with the letters of the last name of your runner. You can meet up at those tents in the finsher area in the Epcot parking lot.

I hope that helps.
