DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

That is logical thing to do if you had more info, got too overwhelmed, or just thought they weren't heard. But over and over? And the way they are treating and encouraging each other to treat the phone CM's....

The Cm's can see the dates your approved DAS run between, your denial, who you talked to, how many times you call and if there are any notes on you behavior. And not that is not illegal.. LOL.
Yes. It makes sense that some people would be nervous, overwhelmed or just not able to express themselves. The reports I've read when those people call back is the second call went well.

Calling over and over is harassment and pretty futile.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. (Unknown source, although it has been attributed to multiple people including Einstein)

Trust me, you don't. You get a small ideal with how it is here when a poster comes in and dominates how awful the new system is and how Disney is dead to them.

Magnify that by x100 since it's 12k members and growing and many have no real other area to vent as most have been closed off to them, so concentrating in one area.

Some try to help and some truly want to be helped navigate; and some want to truly improve on the matter. It's the rest that's a lot of noise and cancelling with ableist labeling readily applied.
Oh geez group has definitely grown. I joined when the changes first came about and it was maybe 2K then? I’m guessing most are afraid to speak up there though.

If the eligibility to call again is 120 days the applicant is a passholder. It would not surprise me that if they do not cease these harassing calls that they might be temporarily banned from the parks.
Maybe? That part is unclear....But with some the entitlement...

Funny thing? They are STILL encouraging each other to call back...:sad2: What is the definition of insanity?

I do believe that they are, and it's not like the 2nd callback that this is happening either.

I agree Disney has the information and probably noting poor behavior on calls and track that -- we do. We also give ample leeway for our patient facing call center staff to disconnect unruly folk.

Disney may actually resort to banning, and it would be a viable tool for resource intense folk that simply aren't in it to help moving forward in a civil way.

I felt like I sort of wanted to see it, until I just went to one of the online petitions and started seeing the videos they had of supporters. It was so uncomfortable to watch, nearly every video was "I'm nervous about calling because Disney is no longer accommodating..." So they haven't even been denied yet? And they are online warrior-ing and lashing out? "They changed the system and I will never be able to go back, but haven't applied yet" Come on people.

FYI- Seeing multiple posts WITH screen shots from un happy people who have called back over and over, NOW being told they have to wait 120 days from their last call until they can apply again. So not the first detail, but the last of the multiple calls. The CM's are refusing to talk to them any further. This has been being reported little by little over the last couple of days across other sites too.

Unfortunately, this was going happen with so many telling each other to keep calling until they get accepted. The upside? Hopefully all kinks will be out of the system. That site is not going be pretty tonight..stay away.
Is this for anyone who gets denied, or just those who have been calling back repeatedly?

(I'm thinking of the reports we've had here of those who were denied initially, tried the non-DAS accommodations in the park and found they really did not work for them, called back and explained in detail why they didn't work with examples and then were approved for DAS. If this 120 applied to everyone, then that wouldn't be possible anymore since all calls are 30 days before the trip.

I joined the group for a few hours and that was enough for me to leave it and not look back. I do disability advocacy work every day. This isn't it.

Poorly controlled or triggered person with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) can be quite normal unfortunately. They are also ones that take up a lot of airspace while working through their issue, so posts/encounters can take quite a bit of time.

It's hard, and if you've known a person suffering from GAD, it can be quite difficult to get through some issues.

No it's not. It a giant vent/B(*)D session. In the middle of all that, there are some that do want/need help and looking for options. I relate it to a bit of street medicine -- it can be ugly.

There's a higher level attempt for real advocacy too, just need to not get dragged down by the anger.

I appreciate the higher attempt for real advocacy, just can't deal with the anger right now. If it settles down I'd consider re-joining, but it sounds like that'll be a good while.

I'm wondering if the protest the 'defenders" were planning went off or if it never happened. Wondering if anyone saw the groups.

They are doing truck billboard that is supposed to drive by the park and D23 for two days. From what I say the quotes and stories are not very well thought out and very indulgent in not a good way. Plus with traffic and the convention being inside, I doubt why are going to get the coverage they think they are going to get. No clue if they plan to protest...

They had some good ideas early one, but were overtaken. Now it's call everyday, write thirty letters every day, stress, hate on Disney, calzone who disagrees ablest, see who can one up each other with he worst story of the day rinse, repeat.

I think this is JUST for those who are harassing and calling over and over. Not your average offline Disney fan trying to navigate the new rules.

So…after catching up on posts here today, I caved and just joined the DAS defenders group on fb out of curiosity….I had to fill out a questionnaire for approval to the group….if I get denied, should I try again (and again and again??) :D
Don’t say against logical or try to explain the new rules or they may call you an ableist and ban you 🙄

I saw pictures on IG. It wasn't a lot of people but it did happen.
That was a meet up. The wore blue, hung out and took pictures. About 15-20 at each park.

D23 is the billboard with the really cringeworthy stories and sayings that I think are just going to drive the crazy home and alienate them more to their corner of Facebook. It's a moving one and will have to navigate all the traffic and barricades. With everyone inside... I don't see many seeing it.

I know some (?most) of the Disney/Disabilities Facebook pages I follow banned people who were 'behaving badly' toward other posters or advocating harassment toward CMs. I think a lot of the banned people ended up joining that page.

The moderators of some Facebook pages posted notices that they are no longer allowing any posts about DAS because they had become too contentious. Others were reviewing posts before approval.
Even if some of the fanatics came here, between us, @lanejudy and I read each post on this board. Sometimes one of us is more able to be caught up than the other, but we both eventually read all. Plus webmasters are following too (and posters who would not be afraid to call out and report)

I've noticed that too. A lot have not called before they start posting rants. I can't help but think that when they do call, the call won't go well based on the attitude in their posts.

Reasonable people have called back and explained they were too nervous and/or they tried the accommodations and call back with details of what happened. I don't think anyone who is reasonable and only calling a time or two have anything to worry about.

The 120 days may be only for the people calling back repeatedly or may also include those who were so abusive to CMs on the first call that they are not being allowed to call back until they pass a 120 day 'cooling off' period.

The meet up was a few weeks ago. Mk epcot and dl. Blue shirts.

No protests planned that I'm aware of.

The drive around billboard is for d23.

They funded initial one day and guess another got added. $2500 a day iirc. Initially it was a simple awareness and qr code and website. Haven't seen the latest iteration.

Awareness is their thrust for all this. Not sure how effective it'll be.
