It sounds like AQR was suggested, with the girl leaving the queue for a quiet break if needed. Then rejoin the party to ride.

DAS would allow the entire party to wait outside the queue, not just the individual (or +caregiver as needed). Disney is really trying to get the party back into the queue while providing accommodations to the individual.

I’m struggling to see how this is any different than DAS other than the fact that now a family has to apparently fight their back through the queue to get to their place?

The way it works is the whole party including those with the disability has to wait in line. If you do leave, you won't go back through the queue to meet your family, you will meet them at the merge spot.

Although what about when getting out of the line. That's a traumatic experience in and of itself that could cause more issues depending on the person's disability.

Did the call for DB today (he has Downs and is also deaf/nonverbal). DSis explained reasoning for request and we were pretty much approved right away with no additional questioning, which surprised me, after all the feedback from this and the other thread that I’ve been following.

Should you remove your reasons for requesting DAS?

I’m glad you were granted one.

I think that at this point it has been established that Disney is not going to give out DAS just in case one might need to leave the line. That casts too wide a net.

I kept it as generic as possible for the post (we went in about 2-3 min of explaining in depth his needs) but will remove it.
I might be the dumbest person in the world, but I hear stories about scams and I think "I would have never thought of that". I didn't want someone using your information to try to get a pass.

Hope you have a wonderful trip.

Glad you had a good experience! There really are cast members out there who care about making a positive difference for guests.

The woman I spoke to was very kind as well, and talked about how her own disability made her passionate about advocating for others with disabilities.

She complimented the animals I made in the chat while I was waiting, too, like this:
~(• [} )- 《》•●•《》
and took the time to respond with one of Mickey Mouse as well, which was very sweet.

The person re-entering with AQR doesn’t “fight their way back” through the line. They are allowed to wait in the lightning lane and then they meet their party at the merge.

As a PP noted, there is no fighting their way back through the line.

Aside from that, it meets the goal of reducing the number of guests in the LLs.

For a party of six using DAS, all wait in the LL for every ride, every time. With AQR, all six might be able to wait in the standby line without issue...if not, one or two might need to leave the queue, then meet up with their party later. Worst case, you've cut the number in the LL from six to two.

And it appears Disney is wanting folk to try these accommodations before revisiting a reconsideration of DAS accommodation.

Traumatic for some for sure. I wonder if Disney would benefit if they setup a mock queue to demonstrate and try out a la TSA -- probably not worth it from their perspective and wonder if folk really would take advantage of that. We did for TSA.

My son was approved today. She didn’t want to know diagnosis. Asked 2 questions. I answered one and she asked ds to further explain.

There was no talk to text available in the initial chat box, so I had to type because he does talk to text.

Just curious, is your son an adult or a minor?

I’m so sad. I didn’t get approved and I had a stroke. Well, my days with Disney are over.

Having a stroke does not necessarily mean you cannot wait in the line. You need to explain what makes the line difficult to wait in and if its simply that you don't have the stamina they are going to suggest a wheelchair since DAS was not intended for that type of a need.

No, if Disney wants to treat their customers with Disabilities like this, then I’m done with them. Many people are saying the same thing.
