Darn - Resales prices dropped more?

If I'm a first time buyer and decide to do resale, what's the minimum I can buy?

when we went to the timeshare presentation at disney we told the lady we were between hilton and disney because we wanted a nice condo. while we were sitting eating ice cream a couple came up to us and said they had just added to their disney points. They also brought up that they used to have hilton points and they were getting rid of them because disney is better without me ever saying anything about hilton. do you think that they were a sale rep in discuise or just genuine happy disney owners?
ps i love my disney timeshare

We bought direct (back in the 99) because it was the only way my DH would agree to buy. He wanted BWV(or nothing) and the security of dealing with Disney even though we paid cash (didn't sound like it was negotiable).

My desire to be a member far exceeded my usual "get the best deal" persona so that's what we did. Not sure if there even were any BWV resale contracts available when we purchased.

Since we long ago broke even (bought at $65) and have had so many wonderful stays in the past 10 years, I am very happy I "compromised". ;) :teeth:

But if we ever add more points, it will be almost surely be via resale. :)

I bought a few years before you did , and have had the same experiences. I feel the same way! pirate:

I swear I saw BLT for $90-ish/point listed for sale at the Timeshare Store. I was kicking myself b/c I was awaiting ROFR for a BLT resale at $103/pt. Then I realized, Disney probably wouldn't approve that.

My guess is folks bought the DVC and either had to get out of it ASAP and were willing to take a loss, or they just bought for the free cruise?

There are so many reasons why folks may decide to purchase DVC as a short-term asset.

When our daughter was getting married and considering a Disney wedding, we looked at the possibility of purchasing DVC points to cover the number of rooms we would need, with the thought we would immediately resell whatever we didn't want to keep personally after that time. This is one way to get deluxe reservations, with your entire party accommodated at one location and an 11-month booking window. The price you would pay for those deluxe accommodations, even if you were only going to be using them once for the wedding was still a bargain. She ended up choosing a traditional wedding, but if she had settled on the Disney idea, short-term DVC contracts really were our best option... even when adding in closing costs and selling the points at a loss afterward.

The minimum would be 25 points. Feel free to email The Timeshare Store, Inc.® at sales@dvcstore.com and we will add you to our distribution list so when new listings become available you will be notified.

Hi Jason:

Is this the same list that is distributed through Twitter?

Thanks,
Maria
