our cat (the little tramp that she is!) got out of our screen pool enclourse while she was in heat (I procrastinated on getting her spayed - shame on me!), and now we have kittens - at 2am my daughter comes running in and wakes me up saying KITTEN ALERT - the cat had given birth on the bed right next to DD... (ewww - DD handled it far better than I would have given the same circumstances - she is SOOO happy, she love animals and has begged for me to let one of our animals have babies) -

Well one hour later, we now have 3 babies (I sure hope she is done - but I know that there could be more!) They are all safely nestled in the closet in my MB bath - tile floors, large closet, easy to close off from the other animals. I have helped remove the placenta (can I say ewwww again), as she didn't seem to want anything to do with that and it just seemed to be in the way. She did not seem happy in the box that I prepared for them, so I put a big blanket on the floor and laid the box on the side next to them.
She is being a good mom, and they all look healthy and are active - she is a tiger cat, and I think I know who the daddy is - he was a mostly white calico - one of the kittens is a tiger, and two are calicos - one with black, and the other with gray. Last I looked she was cleaning up the last one that was born, and the others were nestled all snuggly under her!
Now the fun begins. I am hoping this is the thing that will finally teach my DD9 some responsibility - she is being very attentive at 3am - she didn't just want to go back to sleep. Since we suspected Daphne was pregnant - she really didn't "show" until this week.... DD has promised that she will help with anything she has to - and that she realizes that we won't be able to keep them all.
This is the part that makes me mad at my self for not getting her spayed - I am about trying to keep the animal population down, and now we have added to it! I hope that I might be able to find good homes for them! All but one of our animals (1 dog and 3 cats) came from rescues (our Yorkie is the only one we got from a breeder)..... but I just know this house is not large enough for three (+?) more cats!

(oh boy does that look scary..... I think my smily should be
)
We are supposed to be off to MGM today - I guess we are not going to be there at opening!
Sunday 4:00ish Edited to add photo - I think we are done! Very hard to take pics of squirmy little kittens. Baby B is the one whose face you see (biggest), Baby A is the one under Baby B (mid-sized) and Baby C (smallest) is the orange one in the back that you see the leg sticking out. Smallest, but most vocal! Mommy is resting comfortably and continuing to clean love her babies!
Sun 7:20 am -NOT! When went back in to check about 1/2 hour later and there were 2 more.... another tiger coat and a darker coated calico (more black than tan/white)
We actually slept for a couple hours me on sofa, DD on love seat. All is well "in the nursery" - they are busy busy trying to nurse, and very cute.

They are adorable. However, we did have trouble just sneaking our rabbit by the landlord.

in myself that I let this happen. I feel like an irresponsible pet owner. All the rest of our animals were promptly spayed and time just got away from my this past year
