Daphne's Babies The FINAL Update!

Btw, I can see 3 in the picture...what are their sexes and markings? Obviously, the calico I am seeing is a girl...how about the rest? It almost looks like there are 2 calicos? It appears that you *might* have more girls than you think.

calicos- (tricolors) are almost guaranteed female- there is the possibility that a calico can be male...but it is very rare.

It's easy to sex them when you have tri-coloreds (calicos) because you can then compare their parts to the others and the 'different ones' will be boys, LOL.

Obviously, only a vet could tell you for sure.

When I was a little bit older than your daughter, my Siamese cat escaped and mated with an alley cat. I watched a couple of the kittens being born and had a great time with them. My parents said no more kittens, that my cat was going to get spayed as soon as possible, BUT she got out and got pregnant again within weeks -- the kittens were still nursing. So, don't delay getting her spayed.

Awww, how sweet! Do you have a picture of the other two that you could post?

I causally menyioned the idea of getting a kitten to DH, and was shot down in flames...

He told me that before I do anything I need to wait on the results of my allergy tests...I guess he's right--as usual. :guilty:

Anne

It doesn't take too long to get allergy testing... Then a couple of kittens (I am very biased about getting more than one kitty and I love littermates--I have 2 sets of littermates--Tigger&Belle and Venus&Apollo) would be such nice additions to your household. :teeth: Sometimes it takes awhile for our DH to get used to these ideas. I had to work on my DH for quite some time and it's really all Poohandwendy's fault since her kitten's really got me wanting them (I'd wanted them, but had planned on waiting a year or 2). In the end, when my DH finally agreed to get a kitten (I wanted 2, but didn't share that with my DH and wasn't going to push my luck) we went to Petsmart adoption day and he wanted to bring home 3 kittens. I put my foot down and we brought home 2 to add to our already busy household of 2 dogs and 2 cats, plus 4 children.

LOL, I will take credit for your kittens only when the are being little angels, when they are bad...that's not my fault!!! :)

I agree also that littermates ARE a blessing. I was able to tak to one of our friends to take 2 and it has worked out wonderfully. When they are raised together, you have the best chance of their getting along and even really loving each other. (I am not saying that non-littermates do not love each other...just that they are already accustomed to each other and that helps)

There's something about never being apart that is extra sweet. I never realized that until we got Tigger and Belle. It was really a no brainer when we got Venus and Apollo. LOL about not taking the blame when my kittens are bad..at least the keys that Venus pulled off my son's keyboard this morning could be reattached, unlike my DD's expensive problem that is yet to be fixed. Bad kitties!!! ;) I have to call the foster mom and tell her what these kittens have done! :teeth:

I had the blood drawn the other day, it's three weeks to get the results.

Then a couple of kittens (I am very biased about getting more than one kitty and I love littermates--I have 2 sets of littermates--Tigger&Belle and Venus&Apollo) would be such nice additions to your household.

We have a two pet per household rule in my development, I already have two ferrets, although Belle has cancer and won't be with me much longer. But Pudge (aka "the Beast") is young and healthy, and I expect she'll be around for another seven years or so. So it would only be one, but they would have a playmate.

Wendy and I would never last in your neighborhood! :rotfl: I can understand pet limits to a certain degree (no kennels, breeding, hoarding of pets) or too many outside pets, but when they are kept inside like my cats are that's too bad. And it's not as if ferrets or cats bark. :teeth: Do ferrets even make a noise?

Actually some are very vocal!

They make a soft noise that sounds like they are saying "dook dook dook" when they are puttering around and happy.

They hiss when angry or annoyed.

They make a little squeaking noise when they are very unhappy with another ferret.

They "bark" when very startled.

They scream when in pain.

Many ferret owners have never heard a bark or scream. I've owned many ferrets over the years and only heard a couple screams (thank God!) and a couple barks, which startles humans as much as ferrets.

But the hiss and dook are a pretty routine sounds around here. Pudge dooks while she is trying to get Belle to play. Belle gets annoyed and hisses and squeaks at Pudge. And around and around it goes, until I go "rescue" Belle. They woke me up three rooms away with it the other night at 4:30 am, so I guess they can get pretty noisy LOL!

:rotfl2: But nothing that your neighbors would hear, unlike my neighbors barking dog! Or mine, for that matter, even though I do bring my dogs inside when they bark. :teeth:

True, under normal circumstances no one would ever know I have them.

Okay - these little babies are a challenge to photograph. Most times their little heads are hidden, and someone is under someone else. Here is the best that I have been able to get so far, but others are posted to my Photobucket account.

We are re-visiting names - since now I think I have it right and we have 2 boys (the orange ones) and 3 girls. Also I saw someone has Zeus and Apollo - so we must be more original.

Updated to add names.... Going with the LION KING theme now.... we know these are temporary names, as their forever families will most surely change names, but DD insists that they must be named!

Left to right - first born - Kiara (112 gm), fourth born Sarabi(110 gm), third & fifth - Kovu and Simba (110gm & 114 gm) (not sure from backside which is which- one has a white nose and the other does not...), second born Nala(108 gms)

O....M.....G......I am in love, they are so adorable! Awww, they look so sweet with Daphne! She is a beautiful cat!

They are all perfect weights too!

It is such a good thing that I live too far away and have too many cats. The kitten that is near mamma's head in picture #12 is adorable. Well, they are all adorable, but I would sneak that one in my house in a heartbeat. :) Enjoy them...and get her spayed ASAP! :goodvibes Daphne must be exhausted. Is she eating a lot?

I'm still trying to get DH to even discuss an addition, so far it's not even discussable... :(

my thoughts exactly....I would snatch one up in a heart beat, but I really do have enough cats right now (6)

Shenzi didnt eat all that much the first 24 hours, just stayed with the kittens pretty much the whole time. I guess I just figured all of those placentas filled her plenty for the meantime, LOL. After that, she ate like a pig until they were weaned.

I really like the one by Daphnes head too. Too cute for words! Looks like she will be a 'dilute' calico.

Aw Anne, Pudge is so adorable. But, I have to ask...is the smell bothersome? I know ferrets can have a scent that is pungent...is that an issue?
