I just rewatched a clip and I didn't hear an apology from Julianne.Julianne did apologize, and they hugged. There's video. Don't know how proper it was, but it wasn't shown on the show. Is this a case of "on the show, or it didn't happen?"
"The thing I love so much about dance is that it's a universal platform for people to express themselves. Any person--whether that is age, height, body shape, ethnicity or sexual orientation--it is something that people can express themselves to do. And for me, I am a huge supporter of that and that alone and as a judge, I'm here to solely judge you and everyone in this competition for only the dancing."
Oh, sorry. I missed where you said it wasn't on the show. That would be great if you could find the clipNot the same clip. It was backstage with Julianne and Amber. Will look later and see if I can find it.

The behind the scenes apology? I don't think I deleted the results show yet.It was on the show Tuesday. But you're right, it wasn't proper. Watched the results again tonight with DH and there it was. Memory like a steel trap.
I didn't even know who Amber was before I saw her on this show, so I have no vested interest in her or anything, but I really think that Julianne owes her a proper apology. She should not have said that about Amber while she is out there on the floor trying to dance. Totally unprofessional. I didn't even think that Amber was that sexy or anything during that "salsa". The dance was awful, IMO, and didn't look like a salsa, but that wasn't her fault. Makes me think of when Len commented on Chaz Bono's weight/appearance. Just totally unprofessional. Critique the dancing and not the individual. Every single person this season has done a far better job than I would ever do. Props to them.

ETA: she said:

Nope. No apology.
I actually found an article about Julianne explaining what she meant when she said she was "uncomfortable." Because I also wondered too why she hadn't apologized to Amber and just said she is all about critiquing the dance.
It's from E! News Online:
"Meanwhile, Julianne tells E! News exclusively, "To be clear, that was a produced package, not live coverage and they can put those sound bites anywhere. My ‘uncomfortable' comment was about the fact that I felt like I wanted more out of the performance – when someone is doing a hot, sexy dance like that without the right amount of energy that is required, it can be uncomfortable to watch. "
She continued, "Trust me I'm ALL for a sexy booty dance!! We all know that!! And any kind of body shaming goes against everything I believe in.""

I actually had to think about what Julianne said for a moment and whether I believed her explanation.I so far have never felt a lot of emotion from Amber & Maks. feel kind of "Meh," when they dance. I don't see a lot of steamy chemistry or anything. They weren't like Jana & Gleb when they did that "waltz" that turned out so steamy.
There have been times when we've seen other dances where there's no chemistry between the couple, like for what should be a really hot tango, and the heat & passion are just not thereeven though they are doing all the steamy, hot moves. And at times we have made remarks here on this thread like, "Oh that was painful to watch."
Or "That made me uncomfortable just watching that because there's nothing there between them."
So,I can see where Julianne was saying that, yet the way the show edited (and maybe purposely so
) and they pieced the remark over the dance, and ONLY added in that one sentence - out of context, it looked like Julianne was body shaming Amber or saying something about her sexuality, when it really was about it not being a steamy dance, in spite of the choreography.
I thought that Amber heard what Julianne said on the results show on Tuesday last week. The judges have their mics on and the editors included Julianne's comments during the booty shaking dance as part of the review package for Amber.I guess I just think that judges shouldn't be shouting anything, especially anything derogatory, while the contestants are trying to dance. Amber could hear her commenting while trying to dance, and she said it upset her. I can understand that. I may not have ever had to get up and dance in front of people, but I was a cheerleader and was judged, and I know I wouldn't have liked it if the judges did that to my team.
I know you said it was edited that way, but Amber said she heard her comment while she was dancing and it stopped her from shaking like she wanted to and she felt uncomfortable and held herself back. So, I don't know.

I don't think she would be able to hear Julianne over the music and her concentration.Amber said she heard her say it while she was dancing.
'It was a point in the dance where I had to lift my leg up and Maks [Chmerkovskiy] dipped me and [Julianne] said, 'Oh, I'm uncomfortable,' and instantly I felt, I did feel body shamed,' she said on Loveline - which she now hosts - in a clip obtained by E! News.

Plus, the full quote was:
"Last night was like, they did the commentary, and I, it was a point in the dance where I had to lift my leg up and Maks [Chmerkovskiy] dipped me and [Julianne Hough] said, 'Oh, I'm uncomfortable,' and instantly I felt, I did feel body shamed,"

She's referring to the recap package on Tuesday night.
They left out the underlined part here then.
This is where I got the quote.
