I supposed they made that decision after they heard the rumors of Lochte possibly being on DWTS. I had a feeling it was too soon to come out of the woodwork. He should have laid low for a while longer.

However, some tabloid entertainment show, last week, when all this was going down, said the the U.S. doesn't have in our extradition agreement with Brazil, sending someone there for "making false statements." The extradition agreement outlines the usual BIG stuff, like murder. No one ever thought to put in anything for "making false statements."

(I don't know if that is true. The show wasn't TMZ, in which Harvey Levin would definitely be more accurate about that.)

I think, if we get a gymnast, it will be the one without all the product endorsements. Sponsors don't want their faces too overused on DWTS or for other brands. The point is for them to be remembered for their brand(s.)

By comparison, Ryan Lochte had four sponsors drop him. To re-establish his image, he & his people think DWTS may be a good thing for him.

That can't really work with gymnasts though. To compete on DWTS (and get paid) a gymnast would have to go pro and therefore give up their NCAA eligibility. Because gymnasts can't make big bucks from playing contracts, etc. if they go pro they will therefore be seeking endorsements to make it worthwhile. So of the 8 US gymnasts from the last 2 Olympics, only 2 (Kyla Ross and Madison Kocian) haven't had product endorsements, purely because they want to retain their NCAA eligibility, so wouldn't be doing DWTS anyway. Regardless, 6 of those 8 gymnasts will be on the Kellogg's tour and Kyla Ross will be at UCLA so McKayla Maroney is the only possibility for a gymnast from the last 2 Olympics.

They extorted the other swimmers with him for the same thing. They were still in Brazil and they held their passports hostage until they paid up around $11K each. All Lochte needs to do is pay up.

I would have put Derek with Terra. I'm not sure Sasha has the chops to choreograph for her. I think Derek could have done something incredible with her physical limitations.

This makes me happy. I think I'm in the very small group of Derek fans! I think he is a fantastic dancer, but he's able to choreograph to his partner's strengths and allow them to shine.

Derek's fans are not a small group. He's overwhelmingly the most popular pro. You just won't find his fans posting positive things on the internet like the ones with negatives do.
