Dance Moms - anyone still watching?

I didn't have a problem so much with Nia's costumes in the video. It was the men's costumes that really bothered me! Those guys in tiny little speedos standing next to a 13-year old girl was in very poor taste and completely unnecessary. I haven't seen Kendall's video, but from what they showed of the shoot it probably wasn't much better. At least Mackenzie's video was age appropriate with girls dancing around at a slumber party.

Haven't watched for awhile but at my dd's dance competition last weekend we shared a dressing room area with Candy Apples and there was Cathy and her Vivenne - just 10 feet away!!! She was very quiet and talking to her dancers. She is a tiny thing too. Her studio walked away with a lot of awards. I saw a few dances from her studio and they were amazing!!!!

Yes, my daughter is on a competition team (we live in Ohio too), and we have been to several competitions with the Candy Apples. Cathy seems completely different in real-life than she does on TV. I haven't recognized anyone else on her team from Dance Moms except for Vivi-Anne.

I'm wondering if this train wreak continues for another season if we will see some changes w/the relocation to California. Pennsylvania has pretty lax child labor laws for kids in entertainment while California's are considered to be among the toughest (which is why you rarely see heavily kid cast reality shows filmed there).

seems like abby's new studio would be the primary filming location so I wonder how things will change w/all the new laws she'll be subjected to (and how the team moms who claim to homeschool their kids will deal w/the special restrictions this places on their kid's as working performers in California).

Is it teenage-style sassing back, or is she simply speaking up for herself? Last I saw Nia was maturing into a smart, capable girl so Abby may indeed reap the whirlwind there.

Could be either I suppose. But Nia is very well spoken and makes her point and defends herself and her actions and calls Abby out on hers (the I wasn't invited comment). I hope more of the girls start to follow suit.

And Melissa and Maddie. Maddie is a spoiled brat and I'm glad Mack beat her in that dance (my DD is a tapper and IMO, Maddie is a terrible tapper. But I also much prefer a group tap production vs. a solo). Anywho, she was so nasty to Mack when she lost. And Melissa. I can't stand her. Be happy for BOTH of your kids! That woman is something else!

I totally agree. Maddie was so mad Mack beat her and I couldn't believe Abby thinking Mack didn't place becuase Maddie came in second. Melissa couldn't be bothered to watch Mack's rehersal and was more concerned with Maddie being a brat about losing than about Mack's victory.

Ooh, so happy to find this!! I've been watching for a few years now, and thought I will continue to watch, even I'll admit its really starting to become a horrible train wreck. Even more than it was before...
Just commenting on some of the comments I've read so far....

I totally agree that a lot of the drama is staged (just like on every reality show) but there has to be truth behind all of it, or else real law suits wouldn't have been filed.
I thought Nia's video looked amazing! Yes Holly was talking it up to all the other moms, and dropping names, but in my opinion, she was proud, and just trying to share, and shes 1000 miles away from home, so who else is she going to share with?? If they hadn't been jealous of it to begin with, they wouldn't have taken issue with it.

Allowing your dance teacher to pit child against child (like when Abby told Jill it was a competition between her daughter and Nia for the better video), and standing there when she rips them apart is horrible. I DO NOT believe in the "everyone gets a trophy" way of thinking at all, but to attack children the way she does is pretty sickening. I couldn't imagine allowing anyone to speak to my child that way.

If you think Nia's video was to mature due to the outfits of the male dancers, what did you think of Maddies video??? lol

I also wonder why they are still entering jr dance competitions out in LA. I mean, they are there to start getting acting/modeling/print work - Its not like jr dance competitions are going to get them there!! I understand thats how the show started, but it seems rather stupid to me now. I mean, I doubt most people (other than people who actually have an interest in dance) watch it for that anyway. They are watching for the drama and craziness if Abby and the moms.

And lastly.... If Holly has so many reasons to dislike Abby, and doesn't feel like she gives her daughter a fair shot in competitions, or any attention for her music/acting/modeling career.... THEN WHY IS SHE STILL THERE???? I will admit that I agree with 99% of what Holly says about Abby - So if I felt that way about my daughters mentor - I would get her the **** outta there!! Shes famous now because of the show, and doesn't need to be there, dealing with the abuse and nastiness anymore!!

I was so disappointed in Melissa and Maddies attitude with Mack winning. Why shouldn't she deserve to win. She is a great dancer and did an awesome job. As a mother who has more than one child I couldn't imagine saying I think one should have won over the other. I can't imagine not cheering both on and wanting them both to do well and being proud of both. I hate to admit this but I cried when Melissa said Mack shouldn't have won first. That could definitely be the case. However those other mothers had their issues and run in with Abby, and they left mid season. But what do we know really - It could all just be scripted that way!

If you watched the previews for the next season, Nia was NOT in any of it. So either Abby is just that bitter and nasty, or they do end up leaving mid season....

I thought Melissa was disgusting. Personally, I'm sick of the "Maddy Show". That's what it has become to me.

Christy/Chloe quit the studio midseason but had to show up for the tapings until their contract was up. It's possible Holly/Nia signed a new contract after Christi and Chloe left so their's might still be in affect

I couldn't believe she told Mackenzie to shut up. Even if Maddie being jealous and pouting was staged (which I don't think it was) and even if editing made it look worse, she told her 10 year old to shut up because she had the nerve to speak while her mother and sister diminished her accomplishment.

And the comment Abby made to JoJo about a kid wanting to make a buck on the weekend because daddy doesn't earn enough. There is no excuse. Even if she was fed that line ( which again, I don't think it was) you don't have to agree to say that to a child just because the producers want drama.
