Dan was one of the first to greet me on here when I had my first user name (which in all my ditzy glory forgot ) But I do agree with everyone else about him being one of the nicest people. I love the pics you all have posted of him. He reminds me of a big teddy bear! I'm all for a Dan Murphy Day!! Go Dan! You rock!!

Dan doesn't frequent the Community Board like he did back in the day. I always read his threads when he does show up over here - I'm glad he's still a DISer.

Dan was very kind to me when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. I always find his posts are like hearing from my dad.

So, do we get special Dan t-shirts for Dan Murphy Day? (why don't we get a Dan Murphy smiley!!!!!! )

Brief history lesson . . . since I have an interest in that subject

Dan is a long time DIS'er, and was the very first moderator of the Community Board. He has been here for as long as I have - and that goes back to around 1998 or so. His wife Marie is a breast cancer survivor - thus Dan's special interest in the people whose lives have been touched by this disease.

Dan is the proud papa of two adult children who were adopted. He's now a grandpa as well, and many of you may have seen some of his pictures of his grandson.

Dan is a genuinely friendly, helpful, sincere man, who has unfortunately has had differences over the years with some posters here and some moderators/webmasters as well. I know he has been hurt deeply, and thus, he doesn't post here nearly as much as he used to. I think he is sometimes around on the Trip Planning boards and the Photography boards, but I hope he comes here every now and then, because it is clear he is still very much remembered and well liked here - myself included.

Dan is wonderful! His posts are always kind and encouraging. His pictures, music, videos, etc. are always incredible!!!!!
