Thanks!!! This actually their second trip.. I took them in the spring as first years daisies also
Im wondering if I should hide any Fairy items in the woods for them to find on the hike.
Sounds like fun! We're not allowed to take Daisy's on overnight trips here, so we have to wait until we are Brownies.
NO, I'm sorry you misunderstood. I was asking if they were coming out with a new "Guide for Daisy Leaders" like the one they have now that has nothing about the Journeys in it. I know they are coming out with a new Journey book.
Thanks.
Kelly
Need some suggestions:
I am taking my Daisy troop camping this weekend. Decided very last minute to go with a Fairy Theme. Got each girl fairy wings and accessories at walmarts 90% off Halloween sale. I also found these cute Fairy fun patches.
We are getting to camp Saturday evening.. doing dinner and campfire.. plan on making "Fairy Houses" I am going to start them ahead of time and let them girls finish them.
Saturday morning is breakfast on the campfire and off to explore the camp. We have a nice lake, beach, miniature golf, duck pin bowling alley. We are only there until 1:30 and are doing quick sandwiches for lunch (trying to give you a time frame)
Does anyone have any Fairy themed stories for the camp fire of any other themed activities for the day. They girls will be wearing their wings for their travels around the camp on Saturday.
Sorry, I guess that is what happens when you post before 8am lol (insert yawning smiley here). To answer the question correctly.... I do not know. I do agree that the book is very outdated. I am glad someone else was awake enough to answer you correctly.
I have heard different stories about daisies camping. I have heard yes, I have heard yes if all the mom's come. I was also told to camp, but not call it a Girls Scout function and invite only girls in your troop. We would love to camp. You are lucky.
You could buy some glittery hair spray, which should be at least 75% off from Halloween. I know my Walmart had some. This could be their pixie dust. You could also have them make magic wands. They could also make some kind of bell or something that makes a bell noise. Let us know how it goes. Sounds like a lot of fun!
Hope it is okay to post it here. http://www.momlympics.com/daisybb/index.php

We had a great time and I really can't wait for the next meeting! I didn't think I'd like it so much ... I knew my daughter would but it is really a great experience for me, too!![]()
I am SO frustrated right now! I did all the training and have emailed like a dozen times to no avail. Last I heard was two weeks ago that they had 17 girls interested and were going to get a co-leader for the troop and they would let me know something the following week.
Nothing. At this point I asked since they can't accommodate starting a new troop to find a troop for my daughter and that we would travel up to 20 miles. Zero. Nothing.
I am starting to thing there isn't so much a lack of volunteers but a lack of follow through on the GS's part.
I think we will investigate 4H at this point.
For those in your situation, if you want your dd in girl scouts and have no troop available, you can register her as a Juliette (a girl scout without a troop but with the benefits of being a girl scout). It means you work with her on the badges but she can attend the different programs available to troops and scouts of her level. My 12 year old is now a Cadette and my youngest is a Brownie. I have a friend whose daughter is also a Brownie and a Juliette. We were told that if we had 5 girls we could start a troop and not be required to take anymore kids. For now we have the girls get together and work on their badges/try-its together. I already have my leadership training completed from when my 12 year old was a Brownie and I was co-leader the second troop she was in. We had bad experiences and she stopped Girl Scouts but is happy to be back in them now even though it is without a troop.
