Daily housekeeping?

So family and I are staying on points at AKV Jambo.

We had originally booked a 1Br value but got upgraded to a 1Br Savannah view (still don’t know why)

Every day we have gotten our room cleaned, new towels etc. Is this perhaps a new policy or maybe part of our upgrade as compensating us?

Normally I wouldn’t expect to get our room cleaned during our stay as we are only here at akv for 3 nights.
 
Housekeeping seems to be having more and more of an issue in getting the schedule straight. There's been no changes to DVC other than the new daily trash service done to cover that they are checking your room.

What might be going on is because of your room change is that something in the system makes it appear as a cash reservation thus qualifying for daily housekeeping.
 
We had an upgrade at VGF on our last stay. A family staying before us didn’t care to move from standard view to lake view during their split stay. They checked us in to lake view instead of standard view and the system logged us as a cash reservation. Mousekeeping all 7 days. It was great and no charges occurred.

That happened to me once too. I was happy, but I did ask why-apparently they have few value rooms, and if one unexpectedly goes out of service, they have to upgrade the next person in the door.
 

I was at WDW from 4-22-18 thru 4-30-18. We did a split stay with 5 days at OKW. They came on day 3 with new towels and to do trash. They took the trash the first day. The second day we slept in late and had the occupancy sign up. They never took the trash that day. After OKW we spent just one night at BWV, BLT and PVB.

Quite possibly.

In 24 years of DVC stays I've been upgraded twice.
At BWV I was upgraded from standard view to pool/garden view. At check-in they charged my credit card rack rack, and since it was over $1500, it went against my card immediately. Luckily during the stay I reviewed my credit card online and noticed it. They credited it off my credit card, but for some reason they said they couldn't do it until after I checked out.
At OKW I was upgraded from a 1br to a 2br. They said something suspicious at check-in that made me question what they were doing to my credit card, and I managed to get it corrected before they charged my card.

My advice to OP: check your credit card.
 
Not DVC but last week friends and I had 2 connecting rooms at AoA. The cm at check-in asked if we were interested in a gift card to forgo housekeeping. We said yes, each room got $40 electronic gift cards ($10 x 4 nights not counting check-in day). My friends in the connnecting room still got daily housekeeping, we did not.

if you used points you better recheck them to make sure they didn't take more points out for that savanna view
 
This was years ago at BWV, but I was upgraded from standard 1 bedroom to Pool view, and we had housekeeping every day. :)

Yeah maybe, I might be a cash guest in Disney’s system, one should think that their system should be able to handle a situation like this without giving away “free” housekeeping.

if you used points you better recheck them to make sure they didn't take more points out for that savanna view

All points are still the same.


On another note the extra reservation on my MDE is still showing the Savannah view room as a standard view room.

There are quite a few standard view rooms at AKV Jambo that have savannah views. In fact the 2 times we've booked standard view there we've gotten the "partial" savannah view standard rooms.

According to touringplans our exact room is savannah view. I would add that nothing was blocking our view and the view was excellent.
 
FWIW, when I got upgraded at AKL from a value studio to a savannah view, I checked immediately when I got to my room, and they hadn't charged my points. I called the front desk, and they assured me that since they had initiated the upgrade, there were no extra points needed.

The partial savannah views do not have anything blocking the views. It's the term they used but what they refer to is a couple of things - the rooms being tucked back in the corner of the wing which tends to be an area that the animals don't often come close to or else a people pen is close or between the room and the savannah.

I haven't looked to see if Touring plans ever updated with all the new standard views that are out along the savannah. They do pretty well but I have seen view reports from them at other resorts that I know do not align.

One time three or so years ago, we had booked a 4-night stay in a standard view studio at BWV. When we arrived at the guard station on the drive into the resort, the security cast member said he had two reservations in our name, so we needed to check with the front desk to find out which parking permit to use in the car. When we arrived at the front desk, they had upgraded us to a 1-BR pool/garden view room because some of the SV studios were out of service due to needed maintenance work. No extra points needed. We were very surprised to return to the room the next day and find we had a full housekeeping. In fact, we got full housekeeping every day for that stay. Apparently, the room reassignment was done by resort management, not by DVC, and simply treated as a cash stay for housekeeping purposes. We had no billing problems and no extra point charges for the stay.
