Dad's going! Just booked VWL for October!

Last night, Dad finally said he'd go to WDW with me in October! I'm so happy to be taking him. He took my DB and I when we were kids, but has never seen any of the parks except MK. He said he wished we'd just be going for 3 days, because he's afraid we'd get bored.LOL Plus, he want to see Cape Canaveral, Ripley's (again) and I don't know what all else.

I already had a studio at OKW booked, but I just switched it to a 1BR at VWL. I think he'd really like the whole theme there, the restaurants serve his kind of grub, and we'd need a kitchen. I'm so excited I just had to share!

I wish I could get my Dad to go. I think he would really like the theming at VWL. But alas, to him "Florida is too flat, too hot and has too many bugs for my liking". I'll keep trying!

I finally talked my M&D into going to WDW for the first time in October too! We will be there a week and they are concerned that is way too long. We are also going to the Cape, and staying at VWL! I hope your dad really enjoys himself, I'm sure it will be a great trip and terrific memories. Enjoy!

Great minds think alike! I'll be anxiously waiting for your return to see how your trip went. I'm thinking of Hoop Dee Doo or Cirque for Dad...are you doing anything special like that? I'm afraid to make any PS's...I think it'll be best to go with the flow on this one.

Congrats on your dad coming along and congrats too on your first stay as a DVC member in 8 days!

We joined in Jan 2001 and have yet to go 'home'. Instead we enjoyed the GF and the Contemporary Tower for the last 2 years...this December, though, we're going 'home' to the BWV and we asked my DH's DB and his family along too!

Hey beattyfamily! Good to "see" you! I don't know when I'll get to stay in my "home." I'm staying in yours this trip.LOL and VWL next...I bought BCV. I guess it will be when the newness wears off and everyone quits "trying it out" because I haven't been able to get in. Of course, I haven't been able to use my 11 month window yet. Maybe next year.

I guess I'll be taking my DGD to MNSSHP again this year. I think Dad & I will take her to WDW with us in October.

I'm jealous of you Christmas trip....I can't wait to go during the holiday season to see the decorations. Your DH's DB's family will love it....and BWV!

that's awesome that you convinced him to go.
my dbf's parents would'nt even hear of it (a trip to WDW) last year.

but my dbf's nephew is getting older, and my dbf's mom wants to go and experience WDW with her only grandson, so recently she pulled us aside to ask us to look into costs for a big family trip. she said she would later try to convince dbf's dad to also go, but he scoffed at the idea when she finally mentioned it to him.

the two of them apparently had some kind of bad experience at MK many years ago where CM's were rude to them.
so they vowed never to go to WDW again. (plus dbf's dad really does not want to go and be surrounded by hordes of children running around rampant, as he put it)

anyway, dbf and i are hoping he'll finally agree to go. we're thinking about adding on a 3-4 day cruise at the end on the Wonder or RCCL to entice him. he and dbf's mom have been trying to induct us into their cruise fanatic cult for years. LOL! but we kept saying, nope, no cruise unless our first cruise is on DCL. and they're response was always, "argh, no Disney!" so we still haven't gone on a cruise yet. LOL

Thats great. I convinced my parents to go for the first time to WDW in October of 2001. My step-dad grumbled for months before the trip. He kept saying "what am I going to do at WDW for 12 days." My parents had such a good time on that trip that they bought into DVC.

It looks like October may be the month for first-timers - we finally talked DH's parents into coming with us on a trip!! We ask them everytime we have gone, but they just have never been interested. I guess we have finally warn them down and they have consented to go! I ordered the video for them and they are amazed already at how much there is to do. However I think they still have vastly underestimated all there is to do there. It should be a fun time!
