Hello fellow DIS Dads! :earsboy:

So I have big news for my DD...I just booked a daddy-daughter trip in August to DL. She hasn't been since she was 5, so this is going to be a wonderful surprise! We are staying at the Grand Californian for 4 days, just her and me. Any ideas on how to make the trip special?

I'm keeping this secret and surprising her the day before we leave to California!

Thank you very very much in advance! :thumbsup2

I've never been to DL so it's hard to say. I took DD to the world for her 9th birthday in 2011. It was a lot of fun to be there with just the two of us. Got photo pass and have so many great pictures from the trip. Assuming they have the same things available, how about a special room makeover with your daughters favorite theme? Pirate league? Sorry I can't be more help.

Never been to DL, but I assume they have a BBB? She probably is too old for the whole dress thing, but having her hair and nails done might be special.

Dude... your taking her to DL by yourself...just you and her...that is already special...anything else is bonus.

That being said... maybe a nice meal or a character meal...never been to DL so I can't suggest.

I did the same thing a couple years ago with my DD who was almost 5 at the time. Took her to visit my brother in LA and surprised her with a couple days at DL. We did one special thing, got all dressed up and went to a "fancy" dinner. Took her to the steakhouse at DL hotel. Cant remember the name but should be easy to find. She still talks about our trip, mostly remembers riding soarin' and swimming at the pool at the grand Californian. Good memories!

Very good idea. DD loved that kind of thing at that age and still does.

I'm likely doing a daddy daughter trip to WDW last week of August as we just found out her 8th grade class trip is going to the same place one of her besties' dad was killed in a terrible accident 18 months ago. She just can't handle that. He was a good man, he and I did dads in green together through Girl Scouts.

I'm 50 and my D is 19. We've been to WDW several times (east coast)

I just returned from DL and DCA. I was there for work and extended our time there. It was a Blast!
Park hours were only 10-8 but they predicted rain that day, (no rain) as a result few lines. The only real "Disney Line" was for radiator spring. All FP were gone by 1130am.

BTW: We weren't into the film Cars but Carsland impressed us.
