Our Chinese food place is on that block..it very strange when things hit the close to home.

I started speculating on this, but then decided maybe I shouldn't and just wait until more facts come out. I wouldn't want to get any rumors started or say something that is only speculation.

I can't imagine what this family is going through--especially the mother and brother of this little girl God help us all.

My gut tells me that maybe there was some kind of sexual molestation, with him panicking that she was going to tell her Mom. I hope not, but that's all I can think of. Also, I wonder why the parents took their son with them to the hospital and then asked the neighbor to babysit the girl? Wouldn't you just ask the neighbor to watch them both, (unless the boy was so young that they thought it'd be too much to ask.) This has been a weird week for news, that's for sure. We're still waiting for the motive in the Tennessee murder case of the preacher's wife and now this!

I was thinking the same thing about why they'd take the son but get a sitter for the daughter. Also you think there would have been some sort of noise but maybe not. Then what was the deal with him going to the neighbors and being sent home? This is not only heartbreaking but really strange too.

Something is very wrong with this whole story. Why did they bring the younger boy with them and not leave him at home too? Didn't they both go to bed? I think it may get worse. So sad.

And heck yeah there would have been noise. That was part of the evidense against Yates, how long it takes and how hard a child will struggle against strangulation/drowning. Unless the knife wound was much worse than is being let out.

After watching the second clip, it really does seem as though the father had some kind of psychotic episode. The neighbor said that he came over and was confused, stating that the neighbor had called him. The whole thing sounds unbelievable. I hope that if he had signs of mental illness, someone was at least trying to get him some help. Sometimes these cases end tragically. My Mom lost a friend years ago, when her son murdered her. He had a history of mental problems and finally snapped completely. Her husband was a very prominent lawyer, having worked as Nixon's personal attorney. Such a shame.

I heard today, on the local radio/news, that the father thought she had been taken over by the devil. I am still unsure how the mother heard nothing. Also, even though the little boy was awake, why take him with??

It’s cases like this that really piss me off. I hate to think what that poor child went through before she was brutally killed. Something about this case just isn’t adding up. My question is why didn’t the mother or brother hear the girl being strangled, stabbed and attempts of drowning? I’m sure the little girl didn’t just peacefully submit to this brutal attack. Also, why would the mother leave the home without checking on her daughter, but take the son with her? It wasn’t like the father had a serious injury where he had to be rushed to the hospital.

I agree - this does seem like it has a lot of *holes*, doesnt it?

I know in the one clip with the neighbor, I heard the neighbor say the wife/mom did call her as she was "sitting" the child and frantically asked her to check on the girl, to which she found her head in the toilet.

Unless it was a big plot, to go to the hospital and THEN call back home.

By biggest *HUH* was taking the boy to the hospital, when the kids were to have been put to bed by him? WHole thing doesnt make sense.
