D23 Expo September 9-11, 2022 Superthread **Updates in Posts 2 & 3**

I did a spreadsheet of all the panels and times before the selection process began. So that limited the panels that I was interested in making pics for since I saw some of them had time conflicts or it would be too close in terms to lining up. Hence why I was thinking only 3 I would be interested in. I wish they would mention who the autographs and signings will be that would better help pickings as well. Do you all think we should email them so that way they might post before selection process closes?

They will probably just ignore the email. They are slammed with technical issues. I don't think they have the people to respond. Also, they may not know who's coming yet.

I sent them an email asking them about possible separate lines for preferred passes a few weeks ago, and got a response that simply said:

You can find expo information here: [link to website]!

So yeah, I'd say technical issues are definitely their focus now 😄

First-timer here... I have a dumb question about the signings listed as part of the Show Floor Experiences. When it says something like "Marvel Studios Visual Development Signing" or "Ratatouille 15th Anniversary Artwork Signing" what does that mean? Do they have a specific item or piece of artwork they are signing and handing out? And I know we don't know specifics but what type of person is usually doing these things? Creative team members?

I have never done a signing, so this is anecdotal information - actual process may differ for 2022. ;)
But in the past, they have handed out items for signature: an art card, a small poster, a photograph...I have read that the Right Stuff cast signed books that were handed out in 2019.

Hayley Atwell signed for Marvel's What If...?" series, as I mentioned, members of the Right Stuff cast for Nat Geo....It can be artists, creative team, actors...depends on the signing.

Usually these signings have something available to be signed, although I have seen people with specific items sometimes being able to have that item signed. In 2019, I got a poster and signatures from Ducktales with a mix of cast and producers that was handed out.

If I remember right, the Visual Development department for Marvel are concept artists responsible for the look of the characters. So, in this case, it should be some of their artists there to sign.

For Ratatouille, since it just says "artwork", it could be they are handing out a poster or canvas of some type to have signed. The signers could be producers, cast, and/or artists.

It's 22 days to the Expo and still no announcement about who is being honored as a Disney Legend. Is it usually this close to the event when they name the honorees?

I know that in 2019 the announcement was in May and that expo was at the end of August.

This is very unusual that Legends haven’t been announced yet. It’s typically months ahead of the event.

This makes me wonder:
A). Did they have trouble coming up with names ( this seems doubtful).
B). They want people to have made their selections for their desire to attend the Legends ceremony ahead of the announcement as the honorees will be so wonderful that when it’s announced everyone and their brother will wish they had picked this event ( possible)
C). It’s kind of how things have been going with Disney lately…. Keep your fans in the dark …..

I wonder if some of it has to do with Covid and timing for having everyone there that's being honored.

Not all honorees appear. Some have passed away. Some aren’t able to make the trip. In 2019 I was really looking forward to seeing James Earl Jones be honored…he was there via video 😢. So I do not see Covid as a valid excuse.

It doubles your chances of getting the panels you want by transferring. You can select panels and add a +1, and so can the person to whom you transferred the badge.
Hi, reading thru all the posts as it is my daughter and my first time. She has gone ahead and selected 3 categories for Saturday but the confirmation email shows 1 Guest. I haven't made mine yet, how do we add the +1? Thanks in advance, it seems so confusing hearing about waiting in lines even with the selected reservation? And I'm already sweating about the shopping!

Congrats on going as both of you will have a fun time. Standby lines in the day really aren’t too bad as it’s often great to relax. Plus they move quick.

With reservations Disney intends the following guest (only you) and then guest +1 (you and the guest). A bit odd verbiage for sure. For a walk through you can view steps here:

Thank you so much!

I know that many places reported that the Things to Know was showing an extended reservation, but today the things to know is back to tomorrow, Aug 19 at noon PT.

So, if you haven't done your reservations or want to make changes, I would suggest doing them. I hope they have fixed everyone's problems.
Wow! So if you found out that the selection deadline was extended from Friday the 19th until next Monday the 22nd (and possibly planned on making their selections this coming weekend…. ) you now you have to somehow find out that the date to make selections are now back to the 19th ….or you lose out ! That is ridiculous.

Yes, I thought it was odd that it changed back when saw it, so I wanted to post just in case.

Another first timer question here. I have made my selections on the reservation system and verified if I had any time slot conflicts. What I can't find is where the Show Floor Experiences time schedules are located to check on those. Can anyone help what these are, swing by when you have time? specific time slots? etc. Trying to do as much as we can and thank you in advance!

Last expo they were during specific time slots and the times were available before the reservation system opened.
