D23 Expo 2011! Who's attending?

Man...I would love to have that tour of the archives or Walt Disney's Hollywood.

It's so awesome to see many DISers attending the Expo this year. I had a blast in 2009 and purchased regular 3-day tickets. I'm really looking forward to the many events, exhibits and panels at this year's Expo! :goodvibes

I've updated the list of who's going since the last time, changed anyone's package levels who pointed out my errors. Anyone else going who isn't on the list let me know!

I'm Premier. Thanks!

can't believe I forgot to look for a disboards thread!!

Two of us for Premier tix. (that was the 500.00 one right)

Can we use disney gift cards at the D23 Expo?? I have a pile of them from the Stop and Shop promo. (they sold $50 gift cards, and gave you back a $15 coupon to use on food).

I’m coming too :) i came in 2009 as well, but i thought i’d post it out on the boards since i always tend to neglect them until right before LOL i’ll be there for all 3 days, and then I’m going to disneyland after that :)

Siked that the expo is getting closer. Unfortunately, as soon as I get back it's back to work for the school year. (Don't tell anyone, but I'll actually be one day late...cough...cough...;))

Anybody disappointed that the auction and autographs will be an extra fee? Just curious.

I think it's pretty standard for "celebs" to charge for autographs at conventions. For a lot of the non-working actors that's how they make their money, going from convention to convention.

For the auction I think they do that to keep a million people who have no intention of buying from registering for paddles. The money really goes toward the printing of the auction catalogue. I just hope they let those of us who choose not to buy a paddle for the auction in to watch the excitement.

Slightly - but on the plus side I look on it as money which I'm saving but other people are spending... gives me a warm glow inside. :)

For those that have been before....the expo is very casual right???

I did not go the first time and am EXCITED about going this time, and wanted to double check.

CASUAL right?? Do people wear shorts etc

I went to the first Expo, and I believe that the majority of people dressed like they would to go to the parks. For me, I am going to say mainly dress for comfort.

I wore mostly capris and tank tops which is what I normally wears in the parks. I remember they had pretty good air conditioning so you might want something a little heavier if you're prone to getting chilly.

Most people wore their favorite Disney stuff - t-shirts, lanyards of pins, even some in costume. But it's totally up to you. Just don't forget the comfortable shoes - that Ex Hall is BIG! :D

Not all of the autograph sessions last time were an extra cost. I know that the Disney Channel stars who were there signed autographs for free. Some of the celebs signing had you buy their item (book, poster, etc.) in order for them to sign, with no extra cost involved. There will be many though who'll make good money signing stuff -- I heard that Billy Dee Williams is charging $40.00.

As far as the auction goes, it's free to watch. You just can't bid on anything from the bleachers. It's a fun show to watch, filled with lots of surprises.

I'm afraid my "California Rookie-ness" is about to show. :rotfl2: I know that California...Anaheim will be hot during August, but what about humidity? Is the heat dry or wet? Just wondering for the days we spend in the parks.

Oh, also, are the evenings cool?

Thanks for helping out a California Rookie. :flower3: Beginning to think about packing and want to be properly prepared.

(I read earlier that the convention center is well air-conditioned...I'll bring a sweater)

The best word for it is tolerable heat, IMO. Some moisture in the air but not dripping humidity.
