D23 Expo 2011! Who's attending?

There is also detailed info about the Trivia contest on the D23 website. The contest begins at 8 am on Thursday morning. -- Suzanne

ooh, I'll definitely join in the TR! Can't wait to live vicariously through it :goodvibes

The link is in my signature. I've finished all the days of seminars and I'm working on the Closing Concert with Richard Sherman. Obviously I can't post the concert, :lmao: but there are lots of neat graphics for the songs that he sang!

I just figured out yesterday that the D23 Expo has an official Facebook page so joined that hoping for quicker info..don't know why I didn't check before.

BTW..have loved your trip report of Destination D! So cool you got to take pictures of the archives display.. I hope they let us do that this year at the Expo.

The Book A Trip link is now live at the D23 site..pretty disappointing as it just sends you to the regular DLR reservations page. I am guessing most folks already have their room reserved so they were sure late in the game.
Also, people are reporting beginning to get their tickets so please post here if you do and let us know what all is included.
Oh..there is an official D23 Expo facebook page that I just found if anyone wants to know.

WoWP would be cool. Maybe Suite Life on Deck too. From the ABC shows we'd love to see the cast of Castle, The Middle, Modern Family, No Ordinary Family and/or Cougar Town.

Mmmm....Nathan Fillion :) Meeting him would make my entire year! Heck...probably even the decade!

I went to the first D23 Expo and it was AMAZING, I was 15 feet from Johnny Depp, went to 3 movie screenings and spent way to much money on art.
I went all 4 days open-close and saw all the events I could squeeze in and still had to pick and choose and give up a few.

I have booked my hotel for August but now I am having second thoughts.

The first one was sooo amazing and not overly crowded, I am afraid this year will be a let down.

The word is out on how awsome it is, I think the crowds will be double this year. If I have to spend all day in one line to see something like the studios presentation, i would be pissed. At the first Expo I only waited for that amazing show for about an hour and I got the 5th row in the arena.

I don't know what to do.

Gonna be about $1300 for air, hotel, Expo & DL tickets.

But if it's super awsome again and I don't go..:scared:

After attending the last two Destination-D events and seeing the WOW factor they put into those, I can't imagine that this Expo will be any less amazing than the last one. In fact they may have more leverage with the star power after the first Expo was so successful. I don't want to push you into spending more money, but I'm just glad that we live close enough and had Hilton points so we didn't have to pay for the accomodations. It sure made the price of those Premier passes earlier to swallow!

Looking for opinions, please:

Here's my dilemma: this will be my first trip to DLR. I'll have all day Wednesday and was also planning on having all day Thursday to tour the parks. However, now that they've announced the Disney trivia contest, I'm considering forgoing my Thursday touring plan to get in the 6 am line for trivia...

What would you folks do? Obviously the trivia won't last all day - heck, I could get through the doors at 8:05, get the question wrong, and have the rest of the day for the parks. Or, I could make it a few rounds in, be there until lunch, and therefore be at the mercy of the crowds.

I'm also hoping to do early entry on Saturday to hit up some rides and still make it over to the Expo by 10 am. For those of you went in 2009, is that feasible? Would go straight from the park to the convention center.....

I think it will be even more awesome if that is possible :)
Really..I think Disney took seriously our comments after the last Expo about our main concerns, which for us was the long line waiting..we spent 24+ hours in lines..and how we had to skip lots of fun stuff because of that, so I'm hopeful they will come up with a better plan so folks don't have to deal with that as much..I agree it will be much more crowded. (that said I got a Sorcerer ticket to avoid all that..but really, I bet they have some sort of fix in)

I wish I would have re-posted in this thread sooner!

I was at the Scavenger Hunt and Destination D in WDW a few weeks back. It was something! WOW! :thumbsup2

The trip to the Expo will also be my first DL trip! :goodvibes
We are spending some time before Expo visiting DL, then capping it off with the Expo.

So excited!

I think a lot depends on your stamina level. We went in 2009 and only did the Expo (but that was from 8 am to 7 pm every day) for the 4 days and still were exhausted by the afternoon of day 4.

As to the trivia contest, we were at the Destination D events in both DL and WDW where contestestants were pre-qualified for the semi-finals. In both contests, one contestant blew every one else away. I felt like I would be a rank amateur in comparison. The one weakness of the contestant at WDW was Disney Channel (okay, to be fair, none of the contestants knew the name of the DCOM featuring Costa Luna). If you decide to go for it, best of luck -- Suzanne

I have my expo tickets, but now am having second thoughts about travel... Stupid airfare prices. I went to the first expo and it was fantastic, but now this one is just too close to my scheduled DFTW in November and I feel bad for everyone's bank accounts.

We are from the East Coast (NJ), we have regular expo tickets, and we have decided not to travel. Airfare is $500+ each. Maybe next time.

That is really too bad...are there refunds?? Are the prices really that awful?? I don't think people who didn't go last time realize what a special amazing experience it is and how much they'll regret misisng it.

It is awful! (And no, sadly no refunds :headache:) It's $500+ pp roundtrip from Boston to LAX right now...We went to the inaugural expo and it only cost us $200 pp back then. I'm still up in the air though, I just don't know if it's worth it. (I mean, the expo totally is hahah, but grrrrrr.) :confused3 What a bummer.

HI, I just checked my confirmation from December and it says we should get tickets 2 months before the Expo. Just thought I'd bump this thread in the hopes of people posting when they get them. I'm on the East Coast, first trip to Disneyland and the Expo, and I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed.

Have you checked into flying into Santa Ana. Flights for us are cheaper by $150 a ticket flying into there vs. LAX.

Question(s), please? We purchased the second tier of tickets and have not received them yet. I noticed that some have received tickets. Should we be concerned?

Also, we sent a question to D23 regarding our Charter Membership and never received an answer. This was almost a month ago.

Am I just a worry wart :confused3 or should I start being concerned? As we're new to the D23 thing I don't know how concerned to be. I bow to your collective knowledge. I've learned more on this thread than on all Disney sites combined!!!!! Disney should pay several of you big bucks for the knowledge you impart! :worship::worship::worship: Thanks.

Tickets from EWR to SNA are $600+. So far we are not going and will
forfeit our base tickets that are transferrable to D23 members but not
refundable.
