D23 2015

Well a lot depends on what you say is a E ticket.....I don't think it has to be a *thrill ride* to be a E ticket. It could be new techno and or new type tracks or ride cars, etc.

I think &DMT is a E ticket, and yes I know many disagree and that's of. However to me the theming, animation and new technos in the attraction, put it in E Ticket ground.

I put mine train at a D because it had so much more potential. It was supposed to be longer and have more scenes based on the original plans. With only one scene it's still a good ride but it's not great.

Good points my friend!

Say goodbye to big thunder ranch and likely toon town at Disneyland

View attachment 116555

I won't miss Big Thunder Ranch. I always thought that the next big expansion would go there. It's a shame to see Toontown leave though. The theming in there is beautiful, and Roger Rabbit is one of the best dark rides DL has. I know this is a really unpopular opinion, but they should find a way to replace Mr. Toad with Roger Rabbit or something different. Mr. Toad is just too... dated.

I love roger rabbit and have never been to disneyland. I wish roger rabbit would come to WDW. There will be no roger presence after toon goes away.

So I'm assuming after the announcements yesterday that Frozen is the only Epcot news?

I love future world, as a kid we were there opening year! I hope they work on it after everything else. I am even exited for Glidden's Colortopia! :rotfl:

Yeah, it's a shame. It's a pretty good ride. Hopefully you'll get a chance to ride it before it leaves... I guess it'd be easier to move it to MK than to re-build it at DL. If they are going to tear it apart anyways...

So, after the (mostly) good news sunk in overnight - it got me thinking on thing: WHEN? Obviously, they weren't going to say a timeline at D23 because (1) it's probably hard to predict a hard finish date at this stage and (2) nothing like watering down an announcement by describing it as 3-5 years away. However, I am thinking about WHEN this all gets underway. Realistic with any major (Disney) construction from the ground up as this would be is we can expect it to take a minimum of 3 years. I know many are saying 2020-2021 for Star Wars - but I suspect with an attraction of this caliber, they aren't going to take that long. I would predict Toy Story Land by 2018, and Star Wars by 2019 at the latest, but I admit I am an optimist.

However, the key WHEN question is WHEN do they really start on it. Sure they've been closing stuff down, but not really any construction (other than the 3rd TSMM track). The other thing is that this stuff can be announced and can disappear because someone changes their mind. (Not that I think Star Wars will get cut...but still.) @lockedoutlogic and I don't agree often, but one thing we DO agree on is "Trust Only the Shovels".

So, has anyone heard about the "when"? Is actual construction (or deconstruction) going to start this fall??

A Disney spokesperson said Toontown isn't going away.

http://www.latimes.com/entertainmen...tar-wars-themed-lands-d23-20150815-story.html

The new land is targeted to replace Disneyland’s Big Thunder Ranch and take over backstage areas currently not accessible to guests, a company spokesperson said, adding that speculation “Star Wars” would replace or impinge on Mickey's Toontown was unfounded.

Another item I noticed in that article that looks to my previous post about "When?"

The company said Saturday that groundbreaking for the “Star Wars” lands will be in 2017.

Hopefully Toy Story land will be sooner.

What year is it?

"Groundbreaking in 2017"?

?

????!!!!?????

I mean...they've had full IP control for 3 years...realistically they worked out the deal with Lucas a year before that...

I'm starting to get offended as a Star Wars fan...you HAVE to wait for the movie cgi to be done to know what you're gonna build? Empire, return of the Jedi isn't good enough?

It has to be what "you" financed, Bob?

I'm just gonna have to ignore this...don't want to dilute the Koolaid

Before I do block this page from my browser... Everyone does realize what is happening here right?

They are institionializing us to accept things in twice the time that they used to do things...with the benefit of better technology...
The rockwork is computer fabricated now...they troweled the Matterhorn by hand...

Whatever...why do i bother...

You are correct...nothing on EPCOT.

Now that the smoke is cleared...we can see what we're getting here.avatar is the only thing going for your ticket price...after that...MGM
Is in the queue... Then anything else after.

DVC, retail is built with expediency...nothing else will be tolerated.

How much is your "gold day" ticket gonna cost in 2021 to see Star Wars?

$150 a day without breaking a sweat...

Yoi

5Now sit down on the couch and tell me how that makes you feel...;)

No one will like how I really feel! :rotfl:

Everyone wants rides with 3D, latest CGI, etc.,.....I want more like Horizons or World of Motion. There is a reason Spaceship Earth is the first ride I go on everytime. It personifies everything I love about Disney in one ride. I would forever be happy riding in an omnimover watching in wonder at the animatronic people living underwater.

But, that will never happen so I accept and move on. My tastes aren't the tastes of the new generation, and I'm only 41!

Let's just be thankful they are adding things. I'm sure it will be incredible! People used to go to school in a one room school house, chop wood for heat, and tend to fields by hand for food and they were HAPPY! Let's all rememberer how far we have come! Just be excited not knit picky!
