D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

I see that you had some nice chats with my little sister while I was away! :goodvibes

I am still on page 106, just wanted to say that I found your lists of 10 things very moving. While it is a hard time and it must be overwhelming, I think you are doing the right thing by being very conscious about what is going on!

I did! And thoroughly enjoyed it! :thumbsup2

Oh, then you have a ways to go, my dear! Happy reading!

I feel like I have to process sometimes, by getting "down on paper". Some of it should be on a blog, but hey it really is part of my trip lead up.

I just made a shockingly pleasant discovery just now as I was purusing Steve Soares Entertainment Site just now, and had to pass it along! Maybe this isn't your cup of tea, but I eat this stuff up like Main Street fudge!!

Take a look at this!!

Nova Era

Classical music with a groove.
Performing August 1, 4-8, 11-15, 18-22, 25-29
at 7:00, 8:00, 9:00 & 10:00pm
on the "Lily Pad" stage in the Portobello/Fulton's courtyard.

I really am hoping this is a permanent type of gig, and I'll be able to catch them on the evening of Friday the 3rd. That is my best shot, I think. BUT, I'd have to cut my evening short at EPCOT, so I'll have to see how I'm doing on my Shop Around the World Conquest. Looks like they play W-Sun.

Never heard of them?? Neither had I. I had heard of Rondo Venezia, which I have some tracks of, and LOVE- this group is almost identical in style. Check out their website here:

http://novaeramusic.com/home.html

Anyone ever seen them before? Did you like it?? Does anyone know if they is "always there"??

Don't worry about your time for your runs! I find that my speed does vary from day to day anyway. Also: more running is always good. I think you might have been slower because when running without breaks you run slower. It just shows that you are good a pacing yourself. That's one of the hardest things to learn: to run at a speed that you can sustain for a longer period! :goodvibes

I have never seen this before, but since I have never spent much time at Downtown Disney, that's not surprising. Sounds like a nice show! :goodvibes

Up to page 111 now and must say this:

:woohoo::cool1::banana::yay: for ME vouchers!!!

Tate's post was wonderful! :goodvibes I wonder what stories (s)he will be able to tell about the FRA luggage storage... Do you think it might be like in Toy Story that when the lights go out all the bags and suitcases come out and play and talk about who has been where? ;)

Your trip is getting so close! And it is a good thing. Otherwise you might have to start PTR Part 4!! :scared1:

I love my Mickey Mail but was completely confuzled as to WHY on earth!! It says AK on there!!!??? Maroo assures me I'm still going to POP? Must be an odd code for that.... reminds me of those code word puzzles I do sometimes.

Ok, LL already answered that for you... :goodvibes

I don't know about that one.... I am going to take the Morcco Pavilion tour and certainly wouldnt' want to make waves with my tour guides.

Why have I never heard of that!! When is this tour? Where do you sign up for it??? I am sure they will be surprised how much you know about Arabic design and stuff like that! :goodvibes I saw pictures of the World Heritage Site in Blankistan and that looks rather similar I think.

Man, that's so close!! Too bad you couldn't have coffee together at the airport! Bummer!

I am very glad that that did not work out! It was bad enough that one of us had to be there at 6 am in the morning. I have no desire to arrive from the UK at that time in in the morning!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Her last day sounds so relaxing and wonderful! I'm sure it will take her a while to re-integrate into real life again.

It was a great day! It is kind of strange to get back to Berlin knowing that I will only work here for another 8 working days. It kind of feels a bit like: what's the poit of this???

I know. Everyone says that. It was just such a shock that it was slower, and not faster- by even just one minute. ??

I am still trying to decide on my race day strategy. Walk my warm up- which is normal for me, for 5 minutes, then run 20, walk 5, run the rest. OR take 2 walk breaks at each mile. Only 5 more runs until race day- 5 MORE RUNS!!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

You've very fast!! Already to page 111!

Normally, it's the first place I like to go, but this trip I really want to get some time in at each park for my solo time, and just couldn't fit DTD in on Day 1. I think it will work this way. By 9:00 I should be ready to hit the trail out of Apricot (as Anara calls it).

YAY!! Now, I just hope LeeAnn's gets to Mary soon!!!

Tate's post was wonderful! :goodvibes I wonder what stories (s)he will be able to tell about the FRA luggage storage... Do you think it might be like in Toy Story that when the lights go out all the bags and suitcases come out and play and talk about who has been where? ;)

I think it will be very MUCH like Toy Story. ;)

I had thought of that! :scared1: I think we'd be hard pressed to come up with 130 pages in 4 weeks- but then again, I never imagined we'd even fill up ONE THREAD!! :rolleyes1

Quoted from AllEars:

"As we mentioned a few weeks ago in ALL EARS®, the Morocco pavilion features a unique tour explaining the country's culture and history. While the other pavilions don't hold special tours, it's worth the extra time it takes to explore the far reaches of each pavilion."

And even more can be found here:

http://allears.net/tp/ep/e_morc.htm

I am actually a bit perturbed at the country itself right now. A couple who worked with our NGO was given 2 hours to leave in May. NO charges, No time to pack, NO NOTHING- they were police escorted to the border and put on a boat to Spain. No time for a hearing, lawyer or even phone call. Since April almost ALL foreign development workers have been thrown out- ALMOST all with no charges or trial. So much for human rights or even common courtesy.

Having said that, I do love Arabic architecture, music and art. So I will take the tour. And pray in their prayer room. ;)

Also, did you know this:

"Morocco and the United States have a very long relationship dating back to the 1700s. Morocco was the first country to recognize the United States as a separate nation. In the lobby of Restaurant Marrakesh there are letters from George Washington and the Moroccan King."

I was just about to ask exactly how many work days were left. Got it.

Only 3 Tasty Interludes left before I'm off for the REAL DEAL. Today, I went with a something that MIGHT be like what I'll get at

SANAA!!!!!

Slow Cooked in Gravy, Simple and Well Seasoned
Choice of two served with Basmati Rice or Five-grain pilaf
$18.99

Chicken with Red Curry Sauce
Shrimp with Green Curry Sauce
Beef Short Ribs

I made mine today with beef instead of chicken- haven't been able to find good chicken around here for weeks. I LOVE curry! Especially if it's cooked with coconut cream.

Here was my version- for which I'm sad to say, AllEars does NOT have a recipe for. I went with what I know:

Of course, no curry is complete with out some of this:

Recipe for those who want to try it:

Into the crock pot:

A nice hunk of meat- I used 1 kg, which is about 2 pounds
3 cut bell peppers (2 if they are large)
3 largely cut tomatoes
2 nice big onions largely diced
1 tsp. beef bouillion
4 cups water
3 cloves garlic
A can of coconut cream (I used about 1/3 c. coconut cream powder)
a few dashes of Asian Fish Sauce (opt. and available at Asian markets)
ground black pepper

and MOST IMPORTANTLY:

1 packet of this:

I brought this particular one back from Thailand, but do know that this and others like these:

are available. EVEN in Bowling Green, Kentucky at the Asian store. My favorite brand is LOBO, and looks like this:

See at the top? They make a HUGE variety of Thai ingredients that are exported to the US regularly.

NOW, IF you can't get a pre-mixed seasoning packet, you can make your own Thai curry by adding lemongrass, about 3 Tbls. lime juice, a goodly amount of ground red pepper (to taste), and some galangal.

Let stew until the meat is tender and serve with white rice (or better yet, Thai sticky rice), fresh cilantro, basil and lettuce.

Now, Troops, Curry on!!

Okay, I hate that I missed my chance in answering the last question, so I wanted to get in an answer to this one in a hurry just in case the window was about to close.

My guess is the Hoop De Doo Revue. That was with a quick pass through all the links, so not 100% certain butt it seems to fit. Enjoyed your story, butt are you sure that when you said you know which door is which now, you won't use that knowledge to make sure you are prepared when you enter the "wrong" one again with a tail of why you cracked a smile as you left the wrong restroom behind?

Gotcha. I didn't know if there was a deadline or something you had to make for registering. I really have never researched how it works other than what I read on TRs- except for memorizing WHERE to go at the airport.

Nope, they are good about it. I've even heard of people getting theirs overnighted! And with all that said, Joe forwarded me the info last night, so I'm calling today - I want my Mickey Mail! The only reason I remember what side of the airport is because Jill and MeMom once mentioned they remember it as "B for Brooklynn" - so that's a duh for me! "B for Brook!" :rotfl:

I don't think I'd ask anyone I didn't know to pose like this, but I think I can get a CM from every country to hold Tate for a picture, and see if they can recommend a good Prop for him to hold. ;)

Depending on the CM, you might get some mighty interesting pictures there! It's a great idea!!!

Yes, the Star Alliance knows us by name. But we still shop for the lowest price. I've read over and over, that most of the time, those "free" miles really aren't and that often a better deal can be found by shopping. :confused3

We used our miles once (but with Delta/Northwest), and it worked great. We did have to pay a bit for Joe's since he only had enough miles for one way, but I think it was like $80. That would REALLY stink if you don't ever get to use your miles!

I like our plan- you go with how you feel and I'll go with mine too- I have a feeling it's MORE than likely to happen, but I like the freedom to bag it if either of us is getting tired- and esp. Henry!

I likey too. It's good. And, I can't remember if we discussed it here or on my PTR, but my flight lands at 1:07 pm at MCO.

You nailed it.

Woot!

So I will take the tour. And pray in their prayer room. ;)

Rebel!! ;) (is it just me or did the DIS move around the smileys on the right hand side? It takes me like a minute to find this guy now:laughing: !)

That's awful about that family only having two hours to leave! So they had to leave all their personal belongings behind?

OOPS, Photobucket went down in the middle of my upload- back later with the scrumptious looking photos of Beef with Red curry! Mmmmm!

Oooh, it sounds delish. I look forward to the pics!

Good Morning All !!Wow Liesaa everything is coming to an end in Blankistan!!! The time for the trip is getting sooooo close !!

emoticon-0120-doh.gif
Any chance you could post the recipe and instructions on how to make it? With all the spare time you have, right?

The menu looks amazing to me! I just really hope that it's a bit more flavorful than the "normal" Disney fare.

Sure, I can do that!! But it was sort of a dump and pour sort of deal. I'll try my best, but after my run.

Liessa Morrocca has that Fountain/ Urinal !:)!Maybe a CM would pose with Tate there !!:lmao: These ideas just come to me:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I"m sure we'll come up with some funtastic adventures for Tate- he's game for just about everything.

Good morning, Liesa. How are you today? It is another stormy day here...and, of course, it waits to start pouring when I get out of the car to get my Starbucks on the way to the train for work. And Andy is flying to Las Vegas today. :scared1: I hope his plane is not too delayed.

What college is "your" Andrew going go (I forgot)?
