D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

So much to comment on and somehow I lack the time for it... But I am so much looking forward to meet you! And I know Katharina is excited as well! :goodvibes

Here are some HATS!!!!

Hey, it's 3 of my favorite DISers!! Looky there!

Wow, this will be quite a tour! I enjoy touring the old, historic places and seeing the architectures, and that's in the NEW country. So jealous of all the things you will see, and places you will visit! I can't wait to see pictures of that fountain. Even from a distance it looks amazing!

WE have a lot planned, but the good thing is that everthing I've listed is like within 5 minutes of each other by foot! Go online and see if you can find the detailing of the wrought iron work on that fountain! THere's seriously like little intricate flowers and spirals and stuff!!

That must be one OLD woman! This part of your tour is right up there with getting to walk through Mickey's Country House itself and see how the historic really lived!

Yeah, kinda like that. I think she's about as old as me. Give or take a few centuries.

I guess there are actually 2 kinds of tours depending on the season and the time of day. One is with a headset, the other with a live "actor" playing his wife. I think she only does the tour in German, so we'll have to opt for the headset- 2nd best, but still great!

The underground tunnels of Nuremberg may have survived the bombs of WWII, but I have a feeling they may never be the same after a visit from Liesa (with an "e"), Magdelene (with an "e") and Katharina (without any "e's" at all). Make sure you don't get too wild together! You do have a plane to catch the next day so you can make another very important DISmeet!

Have a great and very safe tri !

It could be devastating! :rotfl2: I was online looking yesterday, and they say that Nuremberg's smallest brewery is located in these tunnels!!! How cool is that!? There are actual several tours you can take in these- one is for like ghosts stories and such, another of the wine and bier industry usage, another of the history of them. THey all sound great!

I have DISMeets lined up all over the place!!!:banana::banana:

No worries! I know you're still at work! I"m probably spouting off all kinds of naive mis-information and I BEG of your bail outs wherever necessary!! I don't want to mislead or misinform anyone!! I AM having fun doing all kinds of research though!!!

Wow, more great plans laid out!

That is one mean-looking rabbit that Albrecht Durer took a picture of. Better bring along the holy hand grenade of Antioch.

I am still so amazed at the DIS and the friendships formed!

Who knew that you would be able to travel to GERMANY and find a friend to meet up with!!! Much less TWO!

How cool is that!

I love the DIS!

Looks like you have a wonderful adventure planned. :goodvibes

Liessa (with an "e") your plans sound wonderful and how exciting that you get to meet the SISTERS!!!!!!!!!

Picture? Picture? :confused3 That wasn't a painting???

Like maroo said, a DIS meet all the way in Germany is pretty :cool2:. I'm still hoping for the possibility of a DIS meet myself. Even though the one in DC is probably out of the picture (or painting), maybe one at WDW will be in the works sometime!!! ;)

Wow, oh wow! What a fantastic day!

That fountain made me do this:  Amazing. America is so boring.

And the Durer House sounds so interesting, I would just love something like that!

And of course meeting the ladies - and the underground tunnel tour...wow! (we did a similar tunnel tour in Israel along the Western Wall, it was veryyyyyy cool).

And a night out...without children? Ladies only?!?! :cloud9:

Ask me how I know...

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Hey, to me a castle is a castle, even if it's "less" pretty. Enjoy, I say!

But I must admit, being claustrophobic, those tunnels scare the you know what out of me. You are far braver than I!

Not to worry, it only causes minor flesh wounds.

Ditto! And I should give Glenn his due credit- for it was on his thread that we "met".

I've met so many wonderful friends here that are truly great people.

Liessa (with an "e") your plans sound wonderful and how exciting that you get to meet the SISTERS!!!!!!!!!

I know!! It's a super deal if you ask me - a twofer!!

Great plans!! I can't wait to see pictures from your vacation. :thumbsup2

I promise we'll take lots!!

Now I'm wondering if it's oil or watercolor! Going to check now!

shoot, no DC?? but one for WDW?? Do tell!

The whole thing does have a certain "WOW" factor to it! I'm glad my kids are up for stuff like this- I can't imagine trying to do a trip like this if they weren't interested in at least some of it also!

I've always wanted to go to Isreal! We almost did a few years ago when my parents were living there, but we just never followed through on it. Another travel regret. :sad2:

Can you believe it!!?? YES! An evening out with NO kids!! :woohoo: Although I actually have 2 kids that I absolutely wouldn't mind having along at all anymore! I really miss my older teens!!

Whoops! Almost missed this one, TK! You're right- a 500 or 600 year old castle is all good to me!

I actually had the chance to go into the dungeon at the St. Andrew's castle in Scotland a LOOOOOOOONG time ago, but got about 4 feet into the doorway and had to back out. I just couldn't do it. These look considerably bigger, so I'm hoping that's not an issue!

How cool is it that you are traveling through Germany and you have someone there to have a dismeet with! The Power of the Dis!

Sounds like perfect planning!

Can't wait to hear all about it and see the pictures!

I think is some ways it is Providential that we get to meet. Some things are just meant to happen... :goodvibes Of course, if I was ever in your neck of the woods... :confused3 I might drum up more Meet action.

I asked several months ago HOW people wanted me to do my TR, and it was unanimous that I do a TR that covered the time I left my house in Blankistan to the time I set foot in my new digs in Portland. So, I warn you now, the TR itself could take years. And likely will. But it should be a big ton of fun!

Absolutely fabulous that you are letting us in on your trip back. We like the nooks and crannies of peeps lives.

Oh and take all the time you need, i for one, will be reading.....:goodvibes

I think you can guess from the length of this PTR that I like to talk, so you will be the Full Monte. Half the time it's probably TMI. :rotfl2: Glad you'll be with me!! It's fun to share the journey!

what a fun fun day you have planned!

I meant to say, my folks brought me back a lovely carved puzzle box from Bavaria 4 years ago. It's so cool, there is a hidden key and you can lock stuff up and it's impossible to get open. It's pretty too!

Time to watch that one again!
