D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

Wow, I think I've FINALLY gotten caught up! Jordan was right.....this thing moves really fast.

A few comments: Love all the pics and the references to WDW vs. Central Asia. I really miss the days when you didn't have to worry about your children's safety!

Glad the visas finally made it. They must be antimatter since they didn't fall into that black hole......or is that just the opposite?

If I had to do a 5K you would probably need to time me with a calendar.

Sounds like you are having quite an experience. That badge idea is a pretty good one.

Maroo, so glad you are making progress and doing better! Sending positive thoughts and prayers for additional improvement and healing so you will be 100% when the assault on WDW finally arrives.

MAROO....
I'm glad to hear you are going to be out soon and that your diagnosis wasn't a worst case scenario. Love how you look at the bright side (resting feet) of going through all of that and spending a few days at the hospital. The DIS side of your brain never stops, does it? LOLOL

Whoever is still up in an hour--- I'll be on then, maybe a little before... responses then.

I don't have a hand mixer oddly enough. Keep meaning to get one (mine died several years ago) and then forget.

:rotfl:

I can hear the joy the retreat brought you. That is just priceless and so well deserved and needed to get you through this last stretch.

NO HAND MIXER?? Surely that means you have a stand mixer then?? Kitchen aid perhaps?

It was just the ticket to give us the encouragement we needed to "finish well".

First, I'm so sorry that the thumb is still giving you issues. Perhaps you SHOULD go in just to have it checked out.

I'm sorry to hear about the lost puppy...that is too sad. :sad2:

I can't believe they wanted you to all sleep in three beds. Couldn't they count? Good for DH for not putting up with that nonsense; and then a freebie on top of it! :thumbsup2

Well, short of a 2 and 1/2 flight, there's no one to go 'see'. So I'll suck it up until we get back. Not much else to do, really.

I know!! I hope it was an accident, and not some looming disease that ravages the whole litter! Distemper is a big problem here!

Yeah, I've slept on a double with my youngest recently, and it sucked! She may be small, but she can steal covers with the best of 'em.

Were you a Nun?

dang breathing.....gets in my way all the time..

Maroo!! You poor thing! It sounds like you've been through the wringer! I'm glad to hear you're doing a little better and headed home!

I think she was a nun for a time. Oh... the stories, we DISers have to tell! :goodvibes

Yeah, that and the heartbeat- :lmao:

oh maroo my goodness 5 ivs that really stinks, glad they figured out what is going on and are able to fix you up all healthy for disney.:)
liesa- a sheep carcass...really uggg... i was so upset there was a baby bird whose egg must have fallen and he was lying dead on the grass where my preschool children play, thank goodness i saw him first, and buried him on the sly. but a sheep . i cant even imagine
but i love the merit badges. they are awesome.

Normally, they would let a dying/dead animal just lie there, as they cannot eat already dead things due to them not being "Halal" or Clean according to Islamic law. Also, the generally won't touch dead stuff as it makes them unclean themselves. We've seen far too many dead animals just lying around because no one wants to get rid of them. :sad2:

Maroo, what you have been through sounds really rough! No one should have to experience things like that. But I am glad to hear that the result in the end is not as bad as it could have been. I wish you a speedy recovery!

And even if we don't "know" each other very well here on the boards, I have seen you around (and lurked in a few of your reports) and I think it is only fair that you are getting lots of love from the DISers after how much you do for others! :goodvibes

She's constantly "making Magic" for others; her love for others really shows, doesn't it?

Thanks! I don't think poisonous spiders are too common in the northeast - at least that I'm aware of - ignorance is bliss!!) Trust me if I ever came face to face with a black widow... or three I would freak out!!:scared1::scared1: It was not a fun job though! But I haven't seen any creatures stirring so hopefully I got all of the little guys. Spencer was brave enough to sleep in his room last night.

I think then, Spencer is also braver than me!! I might have slept on the couch for weeks- just to be sure, you know!!

After the exhausting drive you had, I don't blame your husband for demanding two more beds. I would have felt the same way.

The surroundings at the resort look so peaceful - such pretty daisies and birch trees!

How nice to be able to let the kids roam around and enjoy themselves and not have to worry!!

It is too bad the dog bite came just a little too late for the extra badge! :rotfl:

I'm glad you had an uplifting and inspiring stay!

We all needed a GREAT night's sleep, and 2 more beds certainly would help!

There were irises, violets, roses, petunias, nasturtium, and sweet williams, besides the daisies too! Very pretty!

It was freedom for everyone! The best part was that I could play a WHOLE uninterupted game of Settlers without a "Where is this or that?" or a "where is the bathroom?"!

Yeah, I needed that bite earlier! :lmao:

Thanks, Tracy!

Wow, I think I've FINALLY gotten caught up! Jordan was right.....this thing moves really fast.

Fasten your seatbelt, and keep your hands and arms inside the ride vehicle at all times.

I know!! When I was a kid, our family would go to DLR about once a quarter, and I remember running around ALL day with a friend, never worrying about a thing, except how many times we could get onto Haunted Mansion during the day.

Glad the visas finally made it. They must be antimatter since they didn't fall into that black hole......or is that just the opposite?

I'm glad you brought the visa thing up again....

Late yesterday afternoon we received our last visas for our remaining time here. If you'll recall, Dear Readers, the reason we needed to come right back home after the conference, rather than linger on a few more days, was that we needed to renew our visas as they expired on the 4th of July. They are now good for 2 months, and it was NO problem at all. It was potentially a big deal, as the law has recently changed so that... oh never mind, it's a long, long story, but suffice it to say, we didn't have to go right back to Kyrgyzstan again, and we don't have to change visa types. PTL!!!

If I had to do a 5K you would probably need to time me with a calendar.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: That was fuuuuuuuuuunnn-eee!!

But, I bet you'd do better than you think you would! ;)

Sounds like you are having quite an experience. That badge idea is a pretty good one.

Wasn't my idea, but I may use it for our next big family reunion or something!

That is too funny!! :lmao::lmao:

It was!! :rotfl2:

Hi Tim!!! ARe you still working these days, or has it just slowed down enough to be on here more!!

This installment is just some photos of the water and hike fun we had. The pool, lake and water slides were a HUGE hit with the kids, and Mike LIVES for being outdoors, going up. I just enjoyed soaking in the sun, and watching everyone else have a great time. Here are some of the better shots I got of the merriment.

Even I got into the fun- taking up the dare my kids aimed at me. I admit, it was fun, but MAN that water was COLD!

The typical fare we got- notice the cabbage sitting there in all its glory. The fried thing is fish.

Yes, indeed!

Great! Finally something that works like it should! :thumbsup2

Great pictures! Those are some pretty mountains and it looks like everyone was having fun in the water!

I think you mentioned that this lake is getting quite a lot of tourism now, is this mainly people from Kyrgyzstan or do people come form the other Stans and/or Russia as well? It definitely looks like an area that has a lot of potential.

They are VERY beautiful mountains!!

I do know that either the World Bank for perhaps the UN?? has poured some money into helping Kyrg. develop into a better tourism center. Their slogan is: the Swiss Alps of Central Asia. They have a LONG way to go. The slopes could be some wonderful skiiing, but that takes money, of course.

I'd say right now, the main bulk of their clientele is from Kaz., and Russia, where everyone holds great faith in the lake's "healing properties". I think the fact that they can escape the cares of everyday life, and can step away from normal responsibilities for a week does more good than anything else. :confused3

The mountains there are so beautiful. Great pictures.... and I had to LOL when I saw the last one....why do they do that??? :lmao:

That pool is awesome and what a gorgeous backdrop! :thumbsup2 I wouldn't mind a bit of cool pool water here. Last week when we went swimming, the pool temperature was 90 degrees!!!! :scared1: And, no, it is not a heated pool. It has just been so hot here during the month of June. Thankfully, we've had some much cooler temps. this week. :goodvibes

Another nice update! You on the slide, with glasses.

And that last picture....what are you talking about? Wearing hats? ;)

They are VERY pretty, but I"d sure hate to have to drive over them in the winter!!! Gravel roads and no guard rails--- YIKES!! :scared1:

I had heard it has been REALLY, really hot over there, all OVER the US! Glad we're here with a cool 100- forecasted all week. But it's dry! My kids have filled our packing tubs with water to sit in. :lmao::lmao:

I hope VA is MUCH cooler when I get there in Aug!!

Maroo, glad to hear that your doing better. What a rough couple of days!

Leisa, the pictures are beautiful. The slide just looks like a lot of fun. I'm surprised how high they are flying at the end.
