Well, we're back :( . Had a great time though. I've been answering resort questions all over so I thought I would just make one review here.

We had a 2 bedroom, rented through Hotelkingdom for 70.00 a night for 10 nights. There was me, DH and DS15 this trip as DD is in Nova Scotia right now.

Check-in was super fast. We asked for 3rd floor and renovated and got both. My first reaction when we walked in was Wow! My DH asked "You got this place for 70.00 a night??" lol.

The kitchen area was everything you need, pots, pans (although we dont cook), toaster, coffee maker, blender, dishwasher, all utensils, etc. There is a welcome pack with Tide, dishwasher soap. trash bags, coffee, etc...all were replenished twice in our stay. There is no downy or bounce.

The place was very clean and nicely laid out. The table was all set, the towels in pretty designs, etc. Nice size living room with a large TV and lots of additional drawer space.

The master bedroom had a king bed, closet, whirlpool tub (very nice), the open toilet everyone has heard about, large vanity and a large shower. This set-up really didn't bother us. We used the 2nd toilet mostly and it was nice to shower in the mornings without waking our DS. The bedroom door locks so no biggie there. There is a nightlight you can turn on if you "need to go" in the middle of the night, lol...it never woke DH up. Patio doors led to the balcony and there were also patio doors in the livingroom. It was very nice.

The second bedroom was small but had a closet, chair, small TV, and a trundle bed. There were extra pillows and blankets in both closets.

The 2nd bathroom had a tub and shower. They supplied soaps and shampoos but we always bring our own. There is also a quiet washer and dryer, I would suggest smaller loads as the dryer takes awhile but it was great to have.

The screened in balcony had a table with 4 chairs and a ceiling fan/light.

The resort itself is not huge. The pools were nice, abit smaller than I imagined but more than adequate for the size of the resort. Lots of lounge chairs. They have a small store which has abit of everything and also a take out where you can get pizza, burgers, wings, subs, etc...they also deliver free. There was a nice games room with pool tables, air hockey, video games, DVD rentals, etc. DS made some friends and they hung out in the pool and in the games room, he had alot of fun.

CPGV's are right there so you can use there pools as well.

Its very convenient to everything. Theres a Winn-Dixie right there so if you plan on shopping there, grab a Winn-dixie card from the check-out person, they only need name, address and phone number and you get a card immediately...saves a few bucks.

They changed our towels and sheets twice and cleaned the whole place once during our stay ( no charge). Check out was fast. In the lobby, there is someone who will supply you with maps, coupons, etc...she will also ask you if you want to go on their tour. we said no and that was the end of that.

We wouldn't hesitiate to go back. The most important thing I can say is this is not a huge 5 star resort. Its a smaller 3+-4 star timeshare. The rooms were 4 and the resort itself probably 3+. There are some activities, you will get a list of times but we didn't try them. We tend to "park" all day, go for supper and get back to the resort in the evening and veg.

We all enjoyed CP, I have no complaints whatsoever and will go back again.

Hope this helps :)

Sandy,
Glad you enjoyed your stay. We stayed at CPGV in November and now have a reservation for April at Cypress Pointe. I'm just a bit concerned about the trundle bed in the second BR. At the GV it was two twins. I'm hoping this won't pose too much of a problem with my sons (15 & 11).

I haven't been on the US/IOA forums as of yet. How did it go with your son's ankle and the rides at IOA?

Thanks for the report. We made a reservation yesterday so it is great to hear positive things.

By the way, did you find out if ALL the units are renovated now or should I request?

Figment., it went very well with DS's ankle, way better than expected. The cast came off just before we left and other than some extra breaks and sitting time, he was great. He went on everything. The only thing we didn't do was Blizzard Beach because I was concerned with all the stairs and that he would smack it again on a slide. Thanks for asking.

The trundle bed is really a full size single(twin) bed with a pull out bed under it the same size so its really just like having 2 single beds. Maybe they did it this way for more space? We never pulled it right out so not sure if they separate or would be side by side but I think it would be fine for your kids.

JJsmama, The last building was being renovated when we were there and it was closed so you'll get a new one.

I should also mention that the whirlpool's on switch is actually a light switch on the wall on the side of the toilet, you need to turn that on before pushing the "on" button on the whirlpool. The same goes for several lamps....look for the light switch on the wall if they don't turn on.

Just got back this afternoon from a weeks stay at Cypress Pointe. This was our second stay there and we were yet again pleased. Sandy, you gave a very good review! We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for our first night. Even though this is a very nice place, we could not wait to get out of that little hotel room and go to our condo!

I have been lurking around this board and finally took the plunge for CP after reading all of your wonderful reviews!! I can't wait to go now!!

thanks guys for the great reviews/responses you veterans have been giving all of us here on the disboard. Many, like myself, are booked for a future stay at CP or CPGV----mostly due to the great info we keep getting here! It's very reassuring to read about the place. Thanks for taking the time to report and answer our endless ??'s. :disrocks:

Thank you, Sandy, for your review and your willingness to answer questions for the rest of us! I really appreciate all of the details!! I'm glad to hear that the resort isn't very large, as I think my MIL will feel more comfortable in that environment. Last year we were at Orange Lake--now that is a big resort! She wasn't with us (this will be her first trip to FL), but I think between the WDW parks and a huge resort, she would really be overwhelmed. Anyway, it's nice to hear you had a great trip, and thank you again! :flower:

Thanks. We feel the same. After staying in a condo several times, we feel soooo squished in a hotel room. If we are forced (like when going on an AI resort vacation) we get 2 rooms now, lol.

Your welcome, everyone, hope it helps

Same here. I miss the Disney hotels as far as the theming and restaurants, etc., but I don't miss feeling like a sardine. :teeth:

Glad you all had a great time and thanks for the reviews. I can't wait for our stay at CPGV this December.

I also would like to thank all of you for your reviews and information about Staying at CP , I have booked my stay for May and can't wait. I love staying onsite but a family of six, There isn't alot of options for us in our budget. So CP sounds great!! Thanks again!
Kim

SandyinCanada, do they have high speed internet in the rooms at CP. My husband takes his computer everywhere. I haven't seen any posts about this. Thanks! Lynn

I'm so glad to read your positive review of CP! I really had no doubt that your family would enjoy the resort. :flower:

Yes, they do...we brought our laptop. It cost us 38.00 for 2 weeks which was cheaper than the 10 day rate. I think it was something like 5.00 a day or 20.00 a week. You just plug in your cable and the information comes up.

Its quite close to DW - 5-10 mins away. We always rent a car because we like the freedom and enjoy driving around so I have no idea if there is a shuttle there or not.

Sammi, it was your pics that really sold me, our place looked identical..thanks.

It is always wonderful to hear that you have made a good choice when picking a place to stay!!!!I cannot wait to get there in April!!!!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
I'm so excited I just can't stand it !!! It has been a long snowy winter and guess what? I have to scrape off my car again this morning!! :cold:

Enjoy your vacations,

Heidi :earsgirl:

Just booked a 3 bedroom at the Grandvillas for September. I think I got a pretty good deal. Got the entire week for $261 through SkyAuction. :earseek: The only downside is that I have to worry about the hurricanes. I ran into the same problem last year, but SkyAuction allowed me to reschedule. I think it is worth the risk. We just returned a couple weeks ago and stayed at Vacation Village at Parkway for the same price through SkyAuction. I love me some SkyAuction! If you can be flexible, there is not a better deal out there.

Wow, good deal. We can never use it as there is no flexibility in flying with coming from Manitoba but I have looked a few times. I liked Vacation Village as well but I preferred Cypress Pointe, the suites were bigger and there was more things for DS to do there but I would go back to both :)
