We are staying just two nights prior to check in to WDW and need advice on which is better , the Resort or Grand Villas. I can get a two bedroom at the resort for $90 less than a three bdrm at the grand villas. We want to have easy access to DTD for Cirque and the cleanest/newest if possible.

Thanks.

I haven't heard complaints about either.

the Cypress Pointe resort side was recently rehab (in 2004 & 2005) - so it is newer.

but the grand ville side has elevators.

the resort is closer to the slide pool.

but both are next door to each other,

One other small difference: The Resort 2BR has a twin bed and a trundle bed in the second bedroom. I've heard it's pretty small. The 2BR in the GV has two twin beds. I think the 3BR at GV is the 2BR plus a 1BR lockoff joined together.

If it makes a difference to you RCI has the Resort listed as a Gold Crown resort and the Grand Villas as Silver. I know that even the Resort had lost its Gold rating for a little while, but my understanding is that they switched management companies and now they are doing a great job and will have the grand villas up to Gold Status.

They are in a great location. I would say 1 mile or less from DD. I would say try to get the resorts section but if you can't the grand villas would be fine.

I noticed that on RCI it has both listed as sleeping 8 in a 3 bedroom. I thought before that the Grand Villas slept 10.

I haven't stayed at the Resort, but have stayed several times at the GV. I always choose the GV due to the master bath situation.....the toilet room closes off in the GV but is open to the rest of the room in the Resort.

I'm glad to hear that! I thought it was open in both (Resort and GV). Thanks for the information. :)

I wanted to ask the original poster where to go to book Cypress Pointe Resort, not the grand villas. Thanks :)

We booked CP for next month through hotelkingdom.com....great rates too! :thumbsup2 :)

be aware that this resort is putting new roofs on all the villas - I got told through RCI - exchange this Dec.

an owner there thinks they will be through - but right now they are working on building 8.

I loved the resort...the second bedroom did have a twin with a trundle....the 3bdrm was a 2 bedroom plus a 1 bedroom..you could choose to keep the door open and it was a 3bedroom...

the no door to the bathroom in the master bedrooms...yeah, that was different, there was a wall there, but also a full length mirror on the wall...having the room to myself...there is a traditional bathroom with door near the smaller bedroom...the third is like the first master suite with just a wall, and the bath area separates the third bedroom/bathroom

regardless of the different set up for bathrooms...we loved this place.

:grouphug: I'm glad I found this thread. I just recently won a week at Cypress Pointe Resort(arriving Dec. 1,2006) for a 3 BR for $345.00 grand total through Sky Auction I was a little sad because we cancelled our ressies at FW. This thread is making me feel better. :)

Great price for a whole week!

You will love it. It's huge. It's so nice to spread out when you're at WDW for a long visit.

When you head to MK make sure you take the back way in (not the freeway)---it's faster and easier. :sunny:

My parents have a timeshare through RCI. We have stayed twice at Cypress Pointe and loved it.

We've actually been going down and staying at CP for the past 11 years as my cousin is an owner there but this year we're trying out Summer Bay and Calini Beach Club in Siesta Key! With a couple of days before and after at CP! :sunny:

I'm not sure what the "back way in" is...but from Cypress Pointe to any of the resorts...you pull out of the resort...go to the light..make a left and the "MAIN GATE" is about two blocks up on the right...you can't miss it....there are HUGE BRICK walls with Mickey and Minnie on them....You turn RIGHT into this area...downtown disney is about two blocks on the right...keep going straight and there will be signs pointing to each park area....they are each spread out, but Disney has their own "roadway system" once you turn into the main gate, and all the signs were clearly marked and it was easy to find each park...

They may know a better way, but this was so easy...so if they don't respond, hopefully this helps. I was concerned with "location" from Cypress, etc...i worried for nothing. you CAN NOT miss it! the one thing i did do...LOL
there are two resorts side by side, i turned in the wrong entrance....there is a big sign that says "SUNTERRA" with it...that's how you'll know you are at the right entrance...LOL...i went in, they couldn't find my reservation....i was at the hotel next to it! LOL

Trust me, it would be next to impossible not to notice the big MICKEY and MINNIE brick wall! (McDonalds is across the street- "girl directions! LOL) It's either 2 or 3 traffic lights to the wall from Cypress Pointe.

I don't know the street names but will give a shot toward explaing the back way. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will come along....

Exit Cypress Pointe and turn left at the light toward Disney and Freeway entrances.

Before you get to Disney's big brick wall, you should have turned right at a stoplight.

Drive past a large timeshare place. I believe it is two lights later that you turn left. There is a Disney employee softball field at the corner.

Stay on this road and you see some of the back side of Disney offices, then you pass by Ft. Wilderness. Eventually you come out near the TTC, loop around and enter the parking lot.

No traffic, easy as pie. :sunny:

some people like I4 - if you do just use it.

otherwise go to hotel plaza (like directed) Micky & minnie - when you get in front of DD turn right (Buena Vista Drive) - you will pass SSR on the left - on the right you will pass the firestation. at little pass where SSR looks like it ends - turn left - Disney Vacation Way (street name) - this will end at a traffic light - go straight for Epcot - turn left for Studios - (I think) go straight for MK.

sorry I only go to the MK with WDW buses - this will the first time in a long, long time that I haven't.

for the AK - go like Solar told you - one exception once you are pass CBR - turn left (will go pass Pop) turn right - stay on this road to get to AK.

there is another backroad Turkey Lake Rd???? to get to US/IOA.
