Hello: I'm thinking of doing a cycling vacation and staying at WDW. We cycle about 30-40 miles a day, just for fun. Does anyone know if there are cycling trails/quiet roads that would be suitible in the WDW area or surrounding area? Are there any bike clubs in the area that can reccommend areas or routes. Thanks.

On-property, there are some casual bicycle paths, but nothing I would say would be suitable for a serious cyclist. Furthermore, bicycles are prohibited from most of the roads, such as World Drive.

I would highly recommend AGAINST bicycling on WDW property. The roads are not suitable for such. With heavy high-speed traffic on even some "back road" looking roads, it's very unsafe.

We like to cycle in the area of 25 - 30 miles a day, and have had fun renting bikes at WDW, but it is not the type of cycling we usually do. There are some trails around Wildnerness Lodge and a trail from OKW to downtown DIsney, but they are very short.
I have not ridden it, but plan to try the "orange blossom trail" nearby. do a web search and you should find information.

About an hour east of Disney is Cocoa Beach and we like to stay there in the winter to get lots of riding in. There is cycling both on the beach (uninterrputed 6 miles) and bike trails along the causeway and around the area. It is very bicycle friendly with full bike lanes on major roads. We can get several hours of good cycling in very safely there on dedicated trails. Vero Beach also has bike trails heading along A1A both north and south - we followed bike trails literally the whole coast from Cocoa beach to Vero Beach.

I wish WDW would do more to help cyclists - they have the land. I would not venture out onto the roads - too many multi-land with heavy traffic.

You don't mean THE Orange Blossom Trail (OBT) do you? I googled it and all I could find was the road, not a bike trail.

Unless there's another Orange Blossom Trail that I do not know about, "OBT" as it's commonly referred to is an EXTREMELY congested multi-lane commercial highway. I try to avoid driving on it as much as possible, never mind something else.

The actual name is the West Orange Trail.

It was inaccurately referenced (or perhaps has been re-named) in an old news clipping I kept - it goes through Winter Garden Fl northwest of WDW. It is mostly on old railroad bed, and appears to be a decent length.

No - I would never ride on that Orange Blossom highway.
