CVS ECB Deals - Sales for Week 3/16/08-3/22/08

1. Technically no. If your card is scanned first, it shows as BOGO. If an item is scanned before you give your card to be scanned, it removes the amounts when the cashier presses total.

Some of the coupons with a bar code would probably remove the amount anyway, but the cashiers are supposed to verify the final total.

2. No for the same reason as 1.

The people who caused problems at CVS were trying to get around this by having their cards scanned at the end and trying to get the cashier to use coupons before s/he pressed total. Stores have received memos saying to press total before scanning coupons.

All of us regular shoppers here want them to press total first because you can "go negative" if they don't. This might not make sense now, but it'll happen some day if you keep shopping there. You end up either losing ECBs or scrambling to find something to fill in.

My stores here will all scan the store card if you don't give them your card before the transaction starts. I guess to eliminate people waiting! Some will even scan their store card automatically and then just scan yours when you hand it to them.

If you have an ECB for $15 and only buy $10 worth of merchandise using that ECB what happens to the other $5? Do you lose it?

You have to at least buy 15.00 before taxes or you cannot use it. I have tried and they said no.

So then everyone gets the sale prices even if they don't have a card?

My stores will adjust down an ECB, no matter the amount. but they always tell me first so I can choose to get more stuff or not use it, if I want.

Hopefully when I go tonight they will still have the items I need----mouth rinse and toothpaste in order not to lose my ECB's.

Yep. But they don't get ECBs to use if it's not their own card.

That sounds like a good idea, I'm going to tell my store about that because they usually have people arguing that they didn't get the price in the ad, but they refuse to get an extra card card. The CVS closest to me is in a snobby neighborhood and most people think it's beneath them to have a card (and go on and on about privacy), but often they'll pick something up that has a sale sign by it.

I had one adjust down from $5.98 to $5.96. I guess they took off the tax too. The total was over $6 when I handed him the ECB. I was getting my wallet out to pay the rest when I was the total was $0. I looked at my receipt and saw that the ECB was rung in as $5.96. He never said a word, but it was only two cents and I would have done the same thing.

Actually, the ECBs will not be generated now since the deal for the Pot of Gold was only Sunday and Monday. The person who wrote the raincheck should have marked it to reflect the price and ECBs to be received. Different stores will do this in different ways. Some won't issue rainchecks for ECBs items.

What does your raincheck say?

Ahhh... total bummer... I didn't ask her to mark the ECBs... and she did not. So it looks like I won't get them.

Tax usually comes off to with the ECB. Like if I had a $10 total and paid a $9 ECB, the tax for the $9 portion would come off, but I'd still owe the $1 diff and the tax for it. Does that make sense? so if you pay the whole amount with ECB, then all the tax comes off too.

SO I NEED YOUR HELP
I have a 15 ECB that expire tomorrow
---what are the best things I could do with this. I bought eggs and some Dove yesterday. I still need to finish that one today. Also, I bought Dove deodarant (all I use) and it did not count. THere was a sign over it and all but it did not go towards my total--any ideas on this.

If there's nothing you need right now, and you don't have any more deals to increase your ECBs, then I say SPLURGE! Wander the aisles with a different mindset and look for something you've wanted to try but weren't willing to pay. Do you kids like crafts? Check out the school supply aisle for paints, coloring books, etc. Like to read? Buy a paperback or some magazines. Check to see if any new spring/summer items are in that you and your family might enjoy. Have fun with it--you have 15 free dollars to spend!

:chat: I just talked to Smiller & she said she would go on her lunch break tomorrow to buy the tote & then try to use the coupon to buy the next tote. :teacher:

She'll report back. Ha!

The only thing I could have possibly needed was the free glad spray and those vitamin C that I can't find!

I snuck out of work for a few minutes to hit up the closest CVSs. No Playskool totes anywhere! I suppose it's not that hot of an item here in the Loop. :confused3

If there were a bunch, LanaJae might hop on the Amtrak and come to Chicago! ;) (There IS a CVS right across the street from Union Station!)

I did find a bottle of the elusive vitamin C  and Pledge dusters refills. My ECBs matched up perfectly, I had $0 OOP and I'm getting back $4.99 for the dusters via MIR. :woohoo: I have about seven rebates I'm waiting on - is this normal? :lmao:

My store was out as well. I asked somebody and they said they were never put out. She went in the back and got me a tote full. I hate the taste of all mouth wash so I thought I would try this for me. I like the berry blast flavor (the other was mint - yuck!) I might need DH to go get some more with his card. They also have it at Walgreens and with the mail in it is free. It is a small bottle, so I would like to get as many as I can. We also have well water, so no fluoride in the water. I figured the extra fluoride would be a good thing too. My teeth are not getting any younger!;)

I'll have to ask about this! I went to two stores just now and found no sign of it anywhere. I have the $1 off printable internet coupon, too, so I was going to do the deal again on each of my cards. :thumbsup2

P.S. Just had to multi-quote in this post! :rolleyes1

I messed up today...

I bought 2 colgates on my DH's card and I think I grabbed the wrong kind - it is a 4.2 oz Total but not Advanced Cleaning. No ECBs :sad1:

I'll wait until Sunday to take it to the CVS near church to return. Are they open on Easter Sunday? :confused3 My total was well above $23 before coupons and EBCs, etc.

The customer service at my local is nice but I don't want to get on their "radar." As it is, they see me wandering around the store forever looking at every shelf, etc... ;)

I also bought some meters and noticed that the rebate offer was expired and I called the 800 # on the form and they said they will honor it! I :lovestruc CVS. We have on right next to Lowes in the same parking lot, My husband and I split up and we are both happy campers:rotfl:

Wow call me stupid, I thought those print outs were random, LOL! We have probably 7 CVS's within a 1 mile radius of us. It's rediculous!! I guess I'll need to get into this, as it seems we are ALWAYS at a CVS!
