Cutting in Line

I'm not letting them past, it is line cutting. You made the choice to go get Fpasses I didn't so now live with your choice. Your group can come back to you. They should have just waited for you.

If it is a long line and I see someone in front of me with a child and they have to leave for a BR trip I won't be happy but I'll let them in as long as I saw them leave. Otherwise forget it. If the line is short enough that I could get in after they left to go to the BR and be that far then they can just get in at the back it can't be that long.

No one likes to stand in line but we should all have to do it if anyone has to. No one is more entitled to a short line than anyone else (except wish kids)

It's line cutting. I don't do it. Not for fastpasses. Not for restroom issues. Not for snacks. If my daughter has to go to the bathroom while we're in line, we get out of the line. I won't cuss someone who cuts in front of me, but I will roll my eyes. :rolleyes1
Gosh, get somebody to hold your place for heaven's sake! It's accepted line etiquette! I won't hold your place for a hot dog, but for a potty break, youbetcha! And I'm an old lady who never had kids. But golly gee, bladders will be bladders, and you shouldn't be penalized because you, your little one, or your big one needs to pee. Everybody ought to get to pee. :lovestruc

Last year I worked at Indiana Jones. On crowded days we warned people entering the queue that the entire group had to stay together and catching up was not allowed.

In the theater, two of the assigned positions are "Left Packer" and "Right Packer" and the duties are to make sure all seats are filled in. When working those positions, or any of the other in-theater positions, we would not allow saving of seats for people who had not yet arrived.

If a person said the people had been there and left for the restroom I would make a mental note of the time and location.

There were many times when I announced to other Guests in the row that saving seats was not permitted and please move in and fill all available space toward the center of the theater.

And the nice thing was the managers did back me up as I was doing my job properly. The funniest was one Guest who complained to a manager, agreed that I was right in what I did, but that I could have been a bit more polite about it!

I really wouldn't care. One person wouldn't bother me, neither would a parent/small child combo. Honestly I hardly come across it at WDW, and haven't had to ever leave a line myself. I've certainly never seen anyone 'block' anyone from re-joining the line -- unless it was a group of people attempting to get in, I'd think worse of the 'line blocker' than the 'line cutter'.

Not jumping in on the debate, but want to share a quick story.

During our Feb trip we were in the line for TSM when some people passed us to join their family/party. It happened again a few minutes later when (adult) DD informed them in no uncertain terms this was unacceptable. I wasn't paying too much attention and I was actually embarassed that she would do this, but she's an adult. The group (non English speaking) motioned for us to go on in front of them. Again, I was embarassed, but because DD had already created a scene I went ahead of this group. I'm not certain what happened next, but suddenly there were quite a few people between us and the offending family and the two guys behind us were giving DD props for calling baloney on the line-cutting tactic. Suddenly we noticed that the family/group who were now behind us continued to add to their party. There were at least a dozen of them, maybe 14 and there were no more than 3-4 when they were orignally ahead of us in the line.

No big "moral of the story" or anything like that, just thought I'd share.:earsboy:

Genrealy I do not care, now my 16yo DS, well thats a diffrent story:rolleyes1. In my mind I am at Disney so waiting a few more minutes Is not going to bother me. I see where kids will run ahead and save line spots for there parents or Grandparents here I really see no problem. I guess the only time I do have a problem Is where the group thats catching up to the person, just barges there way through the line, just flat out rude. Be polite and understand when some one questions them about jumping ahead"meeting up with my kids or vice versa catching up with my parents" I think folks would get a lot more lee way with sugar then attedude.

I simply cannot believe I'm foolish enough to add more to this thread, but here I go...(I'll do anything to keep from working I guess).

For all you younger folks who don't think the potty afflicted should be let out of line to go relieve themselves, ever wonder why there are so many enlarged prostate and overactive bladder medication commercials on TV? :happytv: Because the population is aging. One day you will age. No, really, you will! And you'll think back to the day when I said everybody should get to go pee, and you'll wish you could.

I whole - heartedly agree ~ sort of. I have no problem getting out of line to take my little one to potty. I would not however push my way back through the line to my original spot.

We don't get in lines that are longer than say 15 minutes though ~ and everyone is offered a potty break after every ride and again before we get in line.

JMHO and I have never stopped someone from rejoining their family.

We'll see how it goes with DD who will be 3 the week we get back from Disney and it just NOW getting the potty training down. Someone and her may miss a lot of rides OR wait twice in line for a lot of rides!

:lmao:

No kidding! Hindsight is 20/20!

Technically it is cutting but I am on vacation, I will not play line police, I am relaxed and I will make sure not to get upset over such a tiny thing. As for saving a spot, if someone infront of me will ask to save their spot because of bathroom break, I will do it, we all humans after all.

I'm the fast pass runner but I'm a scaredy cat, so I grab the FPs when my group is riding the coasters.

Sorry but I'm in the prime demographic these are aimed at and I don't go for getting out and back in line. I will like I said for a little one if I have seen them leave but not for adults or older kids. And never to join because you were getting fast passes.

Ok I have to share my thoughts, wasn't going to but feel like I wanna, lol..
One person isn't going to affect me, or a child having to use the bathroom, my kids were young once...
BUT We were in line for Soarin last year when a party of 4 were in front of us, next thing we know, here comes 1, 2, 3 ,4, 5, 6, SEVEN more adults!!! Seriously???? Wow you could feel the irritation in the air, all kinds of comments were flying at them while they just laughed.
On another occasion, 2 years ago we were at Universal (shhhhhh) and waiting in line for Jaws when 5 people cut us to get with their party. They spoke spanish as we learned when I asked them where they thought they were going. They said some choice things back to me in Spanish (thank God my sons girlfriend knew spanish) Boy was I ticked then.
We told the CM at the boat loading area and he asked them to stay behind and let us go. He then let them on the next boat, called security and security met them at the exit of the ride.
Now this group is yelling in English how they are going to kick our ******. Nice......the nice security guard then questions us and says this was the second complaint about this group today.
We notice they are headed to the MIB ride and I said I don't want to ride it if they are heading over that way.
The next thing I know, and this was one of the nicest things ever, was the guard said "no problem, you want to ride it, i will take you in the back way so you don't have to deal with them and you can get a head start away from them"
He took the 4 of us through some back doors and next thing we know we are at the unloading area of MIB and we got on there.
It was so nice to have someone care and make a very scary incident better. Ok sorry I got wordy, lol..just wanted to share.
SO yea I dont mind one person but more than one? I will speak my mind, and usually other parties around me will too.:)

Hm. Regarding the bathroom issue: I am going to practice compassion toward others and hope that the kindness is repaid to me should I ever need it.

The less kind part of me hopes that for those who would refuse to allow a child to exit the queue for a bathroom break and return, the child bravely tries to hold it and pees on your shoes instead. :)

Why do these threads always start with getting FP's and progress to taking a child to the bathroom? They are simply not the same thing. LEAVING a line to make a bathroom run is not the same as entering a line you have not been in and thinking you are going in front of the people already in line.

And for those that leave the line to get a soda, ice cream etc. It is ONLY acceptable if you bring back enough for EVERYONE;)

haha, I was just going to say why does this always evolve into "people with bladder problems and little kids who can't hold it?" I actually was silly enough to think that since the OP specifically brought up going to get FPs while their family is in line, that we might avoid the whole bladder thing. Guess people like to talk about that!!

I personally think it's major line cutting if someone is off getting FPs and catches up to their party in another line. My understanding is "do not get in line until your entire party is ready". "Excuse me, pardon me, excuse me, pardon me, I have to catch up with my family -- yes, you will have to go behind us on this ride because they didn't wait for me. Oh, and you'll be behind us on your next ride, too, because I got our FPs already! Excuse me while I push past you and everyone else in line." How is that NOT rude? I won't say anything if you do push past me doing this, but that doesn't change the fact that you are being rude. And happily, most likely someone a little more confrontational that I am probably WILL say something to you. :thumbsup2

I have to add, that when we send one for FP we head to another popular attraction and WAIT for our "runner" BEFORE we get in line. We aren't in a race on vacation, but I guess others are.

That was very nice of the Universal employee :)
