You really can't actually cut a 12" border, can you? When I look at the mat on my computer screen you see the dotted boundary box and with that you basically loose almost an inch! There is no way around that, right?

I made this really cute bowling pin border for my page but it doesn't go all the way across and it is bugging me!!!

I know it's frustrating!!!!!! I have just made two 6 in borders and pieced them together. Would that work for your page? Could you piece it without any seams?

Do you have an Expression? You can cut a 12 inch border if you use the 12x24 mat. Or, if you trick your machine into thinking you do. I design in CDS or SCAL and then tell the machine it's a 12x24. Some of the papers (like Core'Dinations), have longer than 12 inches, so you can make it work.

I just got the Expression a bunch of months ago. Thanks for the tips! I hadn't purchased the 12x24 mat though. After years of only being able to use the 6x12 mat with my baby bug, I didn't see why i'd ever need the really big mat. Now I know why!

You actually don't need the 12x24 mat, but you need to let it think you're using one. Just move your paper to the edge and have it sort of hang over.
