I received an email from a friend of mine that reads like a straight scam email regarding cutco knives. I have a call into her, but am curious if anyone has any experience with this product?

Expensive, but really good knives. A friend of mine sold them briefly like 20 years ago and she still has a set from back then. Those knives are GREAT.

Those are the only knives my wife and monster-in-law(;)) will use. We go these for a wedding gift from the in-laws:

We've been married 13 years now and have not had any issue with them. They go right into the dishwaser with no problem.

Had a salesperson from Cutco come by a few weeks ago actually...listened to her spiel. The knives seemes really nice, but it will be a cold everyone-is-merry day in hell before I pay those ridiculous prices for knives.

They are really good knives. Cut through darn near anything like butter. Durable. Clean up well. Nothing not to like but the price. I even gave the guys in my wedding party Cutco pocket knives (and Spongebob band-aids, haha) as their groomsmen gifts.

My mom has her set from 40 years ago. Her only complaint is that apparently her small paring knife was accidentally thrown out several years ago by accident.

We've had our set for nearly ten years now. Wouldn't have any other kind. Big expenditure, well worth it to me.

I LOVE my Cutco knives! They will sharpen them if they need it and they are guaranteed forever. I have used my initial ones for about 10 years. Have added a few extra pieces as time has gone on. Never accept the first price though....they are negotiable.;)

Best Knives I have ever had! My parents have them, I have tried to find something half as good, but have given up.

The first thing I spent money on after graduating college was a subscription to Gourmet Magazine and a kitchen set of Cutco knives. My mother thought I was crazy. That was 32 years ago, and sadly Gourmet went out of business in 2009, but I'm still using those same knives!

My friend got a job in college selling them (20 years ago). She had to buy the kit (expensive), and was told she'd get $ for everyone she pitched to. In the end, they refused to pay her, because she only spoke to women, and they claimed that women aren't able to make a buying decision, only men.

I don't know anything about the products. They may be great. Their selling methods are often compared to a pyramid scheme. The often solicit college kids to sell their knives. The kids have to purchase the product and sell of couse. There is some sort of gray area as to whether these kids get fairly reimbursed. Do a google on it and you'll see all sorts of stuff. I researched it fairlyl heavily last year when my daughter was approached to sell for them while she was away at college.

My DD22s DBF sold these for a while, I bought some from him and I LOVE them. They are the BEST knives ever, I won't buy anything else now. Of course I don't need to because these are guaranteed for life and I get sharpening for free, they come to the house to do it, sure they try to sell something every time but I can say No to them. :) I felt the investment was well worth it for the amount of cooking and knife use that I do.

The neice, while in college sold them for awhile.

She has the demo set she had to buy as well as a few other pieces. Several of us in the family have pieces. They are the best knives that any of us own, hands down.

And they are SHARP!!!!! My MIL has gotten the hand shakes so bad in the last 3 years that she doesn't really use hers, as she is afraid of cutting herself.

Very good knives. My mom still has her set from the 1960's and still uses them today (the steak knives, the bread knife and the rest of the set, plus the big spoons and masher). She invited DS8 and I over for dinner last night and used the Cutco steak knives from her set. They're still sharp after all these years.

My grandmother had that same set of spoons and the masher. After she passed away in 1996, I inherited it and still use it to this day.

I bought one about 17 or so years ago and it still works great! Before DH and I were married a friend of his family was selling the knives for extra money. I bought a large carving knife (serated) and it's still just as sharp today as the day I got it and I have never had it sharpened. If I remember correctly the knife cost about $70 or $80 but, it was well worth it. Oh, and I think that also included a large 2 pronged "fork".

*DH and I were married 12/4/1993 and I think I bought the knife about 6 or 8 months prior to that.

thanks all! sounds like they are great knives. I think what pinged for me was the way my friend described the kid who came to demonstrate them. and then I googled, and it seemed off. but glad to know the product is good.

i sold them in college. i still have my starter set and use them. i've not had to send them in for re-sharpening either.

i will say that you don't make much when you sell them. so, i didn't sell them for very long. but at least i got an awesome knife set out of the deal.

My cousin sold these knives a few years ago during a period where the only job he could hold was door-to-door sales (he was a drug addict for a period when he was younger... he is now clean and in grad school). He still maintains that Cutco knives were the only product (and he also sold Kirby vacuums, that also have a great reputation for quality) that he didn't feel bad pushing on his friends and family!

I was going to buy some cutco knives recently, but I changed my mind. I'm now buying Global knives. They are made better and last longer. From what I've read, people pass these knives down from generation to generation. That is how good Global knives are! Global knives are sold on amazon as well as other distributers. However, they are cheaper on amazon.

What kind of steel do they use in their knives? Are these knives stamped?
