Current Promotion

I would suggest calling Member Services on Monday. It is my understanding that you do not have to bank Developer Points provided you use them within the required time period (I could be wrong though).

You cannot bank Developer Points. You can bank your purchased points.

For example, we just bought 400 pts at AKV, with a use year of April 2007. We also got 400 Developer Points.
In April 2008, we're going to get another 400 pts.

We're going to bank the April 2007 points and use the 400 Developer Points for a wonderful trip in June 2008.

Then we're going to use April 2007 and April 2008 pots (800 total) for a Disney Cruise. :cool1:

On 9/19/07 we were offered the DDP or $8 off for AKL, an April UY, including 160 points for April 2007. We asked about other incentives and George gave us $45 in gift cards. He told us about the $500 from Visa but we don't have a card and am seriously bummed about missing out on that one. But since George is on vacation and we won't finalize the deal until tomorrow, what exactly is the promotion for existing AP holders? If I purchase an AP today before I close on our deal, will I get the free AP? And will I be buying the AP at the full price rather than the DVC reduced price, since technically I haven't closed yet.

As far as I know, the free AP's are only for people who visited DL's DVC office and are purchasing a DVC membership through DL DVC.

I have been following this thread with great interest, as I am planning on becoming a new member at AKV soon and have been waiting for a good promotion. When I heard about all these incentives piled on, it seemed like the ideal time to take the plunge...

BUT... I just spoke on the phone to my guide at WDW (who gave me the tour at SSR earlier this year) to confirm everything, and now I'm really confused. She was quite clear that there is a $8 discount for AKV points or a free set of points, but not both. She also said that the AP offer is only for those purchasing at, or through, Disneyland. She did confirm the $500 reward points with the Disney Visa, if purchased by 11/30. (She said that maybe the offer I heard was an amalgamation of offers from the Chicago office, Disneyland office, and Orlando office.)

HOWEVER... This seems to flat-out contradict some of the recent purchasing experiences people have shared on this thread. (See posts 25 & 26) For those of you who claim to have gotten all of these incentives ($ off, extra set of points, free APs), did you buy at a specific location, or buy from a specific guide at one? Am I missing something? Is DVC shooting straight with me?

I was really excited about buying in soon, but now I'm just confused. If anyone can help clarify all this information, either in the thread or by PM, I would really appreciate it. As always, I am grateful for the expertise so frequently shared on these boards.

The extra incentives are for people who visited the DVC offices in DL. I was also very confused by this and someone was kind enough to let me know who their guide is and a number. I called and they confirmed why I'm not eligible for the offers.

I agree, it didn't make sense to me either and I couldn't figure out why the initial guides I spoke with didn't seem to know what I was talking about.

I did exactly the opposite unfortunately. I called my Guide at WDW & let him know that I didn't appreciate not being informed of addtl. incentives etc etc. It took a couple of minutes to get things straightened out. Yes, that was for DL not WDW. Luckily, I didn't yell or do anything uncouth.

I am satisfied that I got every incentive that was available to me at the time I purchased.

Those that got more.......good on ya! (-muttering-hope ya choke on it. NO-stop that MrMan for shame for shame) That was a joke. I am just kidding. :lmao:

Welcome home!

I just know that I will get shot down for asking this stupid question, but here goes......

Is it possible to buy into DVC from a guide at DL without visiting there in person...?

I'm only asking, as I live in the UK & my DH & I are on the verge of joining DVC, which I was planning to do on my visit to WDW in a couple of weeks time..

Having read about the fab extra points & $ discount being picked up by DL DVC buyers I just wondered if I could go down that route to purchase before I go..??

We have briefly spoken to a WDW guide, but she hasn't kept in touch, dispite telling me she would call & e-mail me straight away with infomation....

Any thoughts anyone..??

:goodvibes

I spoke with a guide this afternoon (not my guide, he's never there! ) and expressed interest in buying 200 pts. at AKV. We are already members at BWV. He told me the following are the incentives at AKV:

Matching developers points to use within 365 days OR
$8 off per point PLUS
Disney Visa Reward Points

This offer was only good for SSR or AKV.

How frustrating! At least this sort of makes sense now... So, in theory, if I flew out to CA by 9/29 and purchased points there, I would then be eligible for all the incentives? How about this Chicago offer?

Yup!! Good excuse to visit DL! ;)
