Current Magical Beginnings promotion with Direct

Well that complicates the matter. I like the idea of dropping the price those $22, but also like having 150 points dues free.

If it was for small contracts I I would be adding on my 50 points at RIV..thst I don’t need. But saving an extra $22/pt would be a nice bonus and I have all my trips booked through March 2024…so that extra 50 for 2022 are needed.

Thank you for the extra information @LittleBitGoofy — I didn’t know you could split contracts like that.

Since we already have 200 direct points it will be hard for me to justify adding on VGF at more than a $25/pt spread to resale—at 200 points and magical beginnings we’d be within that zone—but that would put us over 500 points total and my husband would almost certainly freak out.

For the record, we don’t plan to back out of our ROFR contract unless Disney decides to pick us at the first contract to ROFR in months.

It is an interesting idea to split the contracts up but the small downside is paying closing costs on each contract. Probably worth it down the road later. Always blows my mind to see a 1,000 point resale contract in the six figures. That's gotta be crazy hard to sell.

Yeah, if we already had a stack of direct points like that then I'd be going resale too. We started resale so this would be nice to get blue card and check off VGF that we really like.

Guide confirmed they are doing this at RIV too with the $22/pt buyback.

End of promotion is "unknown" but she says they've been doing it awhile.

If you're looking purely at the 2022 points being "dues free" it's a mathematical no brainer as $22 is worth way more than the dues.

Even if you actually need those 2022 points, in the current market you can likely rent direct from an owner for under $22/point (not guaranteed, but I've seen plenty of listings for almost any home resort under $20/point here on the DIS rent board).

I totally agree. It's a great buyback price and I wish they'd buy my '23 points too because we're already all trip planned and scheduled for '23 point usage with our recent resale purchase (200 pts BCV) that came double loaded w/ '21 pts & '22 pts. Just finished renting out our '21 pts for $16/pt and that drops our resale purchase basis down to $104/pt for BCV.

Extending that same approach to these VGF direct points, I'm planning to take the $22/pt buyback for '22 pts then rent our '23 pts for $18/pt, effectively dropping our direct VGF costs to $157/pt. Totally a no-brainer. Can't pass this up.

I had read the increased Magical Beginnings were being offered with the current AKL incentives but wanted to share that today a Guide confirmed DVC is also offering it at VGF with $22/point to buy back your 2022 points.

That drops your $/pt rate a lot. Looking at 200 points goes to $197/pt with the current incentives then down another $22 to $175/pt with Magical Beginnings. That's cheaper than some resale VGF stripped listings I've been watching. Of course you have to be okay giving up your '22 points.

I pushed my luck and asked if DVC would buy back both '22 &' 23 points, but alas, no dice.

As an aside, I asked if they were offering any credits for an upcoming cash stay we have in a few weeks at VGF (planned before the DVC bug bit us). I thought I had read about a $500 credit recently, but she said they weren't doing that.
are they offering this to new buyers?

that's great! thank you i actually spoke with a guide and he didn't mention a thing about it. maybe i should reach out to your contact?
Happy to share. I just sent you her info by PM.

Oops, not allowed to share, I've learned. I guess just ask the other Guide?

Just got off with a guide and now am a blue card member!

We jumped on the AKL offer for 150 points at $196 a point (new member pricing). We also did magical beginnings of $22 a point for a price of $174 a point.

Originally got pitched a Saratoga Springs contract at $202 a point, their offer was $3 off for a 150 point contract.
