Current Incentives?

So we were "this" close to going ahead and purchasing points for AKV (we own VWL) on our cruise in September but we decided to hold off for just a bit.

From my understanding in chatting with my husband, who is the finance guy in the house and the one who does all the number crunching, etc. the current incentive he is interested in is 225pts at AKV with 200+ incentive points (to be used within 1 year) for 8 dollars off per point (which I think is 104) **Folks correct me if I am wrong in any of what I have stated above**.

But I was wondering 1) does anyone know when the above incentive will expire 2) are there any other current incentives going on?

The price for AKV would be $96/pt with the current discount. If you buy 200+ points, you would get 270 one-time developers points. Also, if you had a Disney Visa account opened prior to 9/07 you would also qualify for 500 bonus rewards if you charge the down payment to your card (plus the 1% you would normally get). The only other thing I can think of is the 0% interest for 6 mos. that also comes along with charging the down payment.

In speaking to my guide, he told me that if you purchase 225pts, your receive the $8 credit and 160 dev pts. Did the amount of dev pts change to 200?

Yes, please do tell!!! We only just mailed our signed contract paperwork back to DVC 3 days ago, and the incentive was buy a minimum 225 pts. at AKV and get $8/pt discount and 160 Developer Points.

I believe the incentives are...
Buy 110 and get 100 Developer Points...
Buy 160 and get 160 Developer Points...
Buy 200 and get 270 Developer Points...

And of course you get the $500 Disney Dollars if you buy a minimum of 160 points and charge the downpayment to you Disney Visa.

I just did an add-on today for 110 points. I wonder if the incentive is different if you are purchasing new - again mine was an add-on.

We want to use some of those points toward our December cruise next year but since they expire within 1 year we have decided to wait till the beginning of 2008 to sign up for the incentive *IF* the incentive is going on. Would be nice if it was....

Ok maybe i missed something we just bought 250 points at akv and we only got $8/pt discount but no 160 Developer Points, and we are a new member, everyone is talking about also getting Developer Points with their purchase, can someone tell me how to get the extra points lol.

You need a DVC member referral to get the developer points.

A few months ago when we were considering buying for the first time we said we'd buy 250 pts at AKV with cash and we were shown the cash discount and offered 500 developer points to use the first year. I suppose this has now changed.

Just to minimize any confusion - this thread is almost 6 months old and the incentives discussed here are no longer effective.
