Although we have been going to WDW for many many years, we are new to DVC and wonder how vacations for people have changed since becoming DVC members.

How do your WDW vacations change over time and how has it changed your nonDisney vacations.

Thanks for the information.

We have always vacationed a lot at WDW but after becoming DVC members we began vacationing there even more so.
Can't really say our DVC membership has changed our non DVC vacations. We have always been people who like to travel to many places and that has not changed.

We own at Boardwalk and couldn't be happier. Vacations feel much more relaxed now. When we first started going to WDW we were staying at All Stars. We would get up in the morning, go to the parks, come back to the room, maybe go to the pool, maybe go to DTD and that's it. Now, we can walk to 2 of the 4 parks, relax at a great pool, stroll the Boardwalk, hop over to Epcot for some cheese soup or Fish and chips, I can run down to ESPN and throw back a few beers while DW naps, etc. We have actually planned vacations just so we are down there in football season so we can watch a Patriot game at ESPN. MGM is a short walk away....It's much more relaxed. We get up later, have some breakfast in the room and then head out. We enjoy illuminations almost every night we are there because it's so close (unless we're at MK). Also, you'll hear this from others also, once you stay at DVC, it's hard to go back to the value resorts. It's a different experience. I have heard from friends that they "needed a vacation after they came home from their Disney vacation" if you know what I mean. We have gone there enough so that it never feels that way now. We do what we want, when we want, and don't fret about lines or crowds.

If you aren't an owner and are thinking about buying it.....do it you won't regret it.

For us, I think we will be going more often. We just bought in October, and we were planning on going NEXT OCtober but with a GREAT airfare and days left on our hoppers from our visit in August we are now going Jan 9-13 and celebrating my DD's 7th bday, we were there for her 5th also, gotta LOVE DVC :cool1:

When I first went to WDW in '99, I thought it would be pretty much the only time I would go. Then, we traveled there, with another family, in '01. My dh went that time (ladies trip the first time...3 generations). He had an okay time, but wanted to go just as a family the next time. So, back we went in '03. Within 3 months we owned at BWV. Owning at BWV has changed our vacations at WDW a lot. We no longer feel the pressure to see it all, do it all each time. We know we're going back soon. We can bring friends with us...I am traveling with dd and another mom and her dd in Oct '06, the two girls will both turn 13 within days of each other, in WDW! It's wonderful to be able to bring others with us. We always feel like we're coming "Home"..hence the big 'Welcome Home' when you arrive.
We love DVC...it has allowed us to vacation in a place we normally wouldn't have thought of. It allows my type A dh to vacation with his dd, without getting bored and going back to the office...there is something new to do every single trip.

We stay in roomier accomodations (2-bedroom villa instead of one WL room with bunk beds!), so there's more privacy and a much more relaxed feel when we're at the resort. We stay more days (7 nights rather than 3 or 4), so we don't feel we have to plan every step across a park to make sure we don't miss a favorite ride. We store breakfasts and snacks in the room, so we're not bound to WDW for expensive meals before setting out in the morning. And we know we'll come back in a couple of years, so we can settle in and be comfortable.

It hasn't really changed our non-Disney vacations; we're still happy with a standard room in a Strip resort in Las Vegas....

As for Disney trips, we're definitely more relaxed while we are there; we're not worried about missing anything because we'll be there again, and again, and again....

We also aren't as consumed with the need to spend every minute in the parks; while we still get up early to be there for rope drop, it's because we really enjoy it. And we usually take an afternoon break without feeling that we're 'wasting' time or money.

It is my opinion, as more and more people own DVC for a decade or two - and rack up 20-30 trips - that the typical Disney trip will become less park-oriented and more relaxation oriented (with the exception of events such as F&W, F&G, MNSSHP, MVMCP, Marathon, etc).

IMHO - YMMV

thanks everyone. I thought that we would probably slowthe pace and spend more time enjoying the resort and the dining options.
