We're visiting DW August 8-15. Just for kicks, I tried to book the Crystal Palace for the 8th, my son's birthday. And was able to book at 4:15!!!!!! :cool1: I really didn't think I'd get anything. I know it's not an optimal time to eat (actually, great for us, nice time to take a break) but I wouldn't think ANYTHING would be available? Do you think it's because free dining starts the following week? Wondering what the crowds will be like....

Just curious!:upsidedow

You may have snagged a cancellation - people cancel all the time. I don't think the fact that you got a reservation can definitely be attributed to the fact that free dining hasn't started yet. Free diners have just as good a chance of booking when someone else cancels.

Crystal Palace, while relatively popular, is also not on the list of hugely popular WDW restaurants.

a slower time at Disney. Most southern schools are in session by then. A condo along the Gulf Coast will cost 30%-40% lower the second week of August compared to the first week. That was really convenient when the kids were too young to go to school.

I agree with the other poster. No free dinning, school back down there and the time of day all comes in to the factor + it could have been a cancellation.
Enjoy love CP.
