has anyone ever requested just a cup of hot water? i'd like to bring tea bags but am not sure how i would make the tea. i know there are coffee makers in the rooms for coffee lovers but what about us tea lovers? i'm staying at the GF... is it safe to assume that i'll be able to get a cup of hot water at the GF Cafe?

I just run the water through the coffee pot and then use it to make my tea.

I have done the same while traveling. It works just as well ;)

OK, I admit, with my last pregnancy something happened to me... and I can NOT stand coffee.. do not like COFFEE WATER in my tea... :confused3 so I bought 2 resort mugs, one we did do sodas, the other was for my hot water, and I brought my tea bags...

I did kinda have a Kaniption fit at the hotel last weekend when they used one of those large pumping thermos for hot water, and the water came out brown... um COFFEE water does not make tea :confused3 !! So I know they have a hot spicket, bring me plain hot water, why doesnt anyone else understand??? :teeth:

:wizard:

I totally understand, I have many issuses with things since my pregnancies lol. I have never had my water taste like coffee when I make my tea this way. I just run one pot and dump it and them run another to make my tea. The whole brown water would gross me out too :)

Pre coffeemakers in the room, I just bought a mug and used it to get hot water. It is never "coffee water" thank goodness.

With a coffeemaker in our Polynesian room last trip, I did what I do at other hotels that offer them. Remove the filter container and the lid of the glass carafe. Voila...no coffee taste. I just always keep an eye on it in the beginning to make sure it is not splashing.

I have never asked for a free cup of hot water anywhere in part because I've always read that the paper products are the real cost in beverages.

Grand Floridian Cafe is a full service restaurant but you can buy the refillable mugs at the fast food spot, Gasparilla Grill.

thanks for the suggestions. i like BVC23's suggestion of removing the filter and carafe to avoid the coffee taste. i will try it out.

I actually put a filter in the basket to catch as much of the coffee there as possible. At the Poly, there were tea bags as well as coffee left by the coffee maker. There are also hot water spiggots in the food courts.

I used the hot water down in Mara last time we were there to make the Folgers Latte I seem to be addicted to. Maybe going to the food court is farther than you want to walk but I always liked getting out in the morning and walking around a bit (without kids!). There was no coffee pots in the deluxes back then. Now that there are pots I'm guessing that DH will make his coffee in there every morning - good excuse to sneak out and leave him with the little angels  ;)

I too do not like the taste of coffee water when I try to heat the hot water. I have found no matter what I do I still taste the coffee. So I bought one of those small individual coffee pots and take it with me where ever I go. It fits well in my suitcase and I am assured of hot water whenever I want it. You can always get hot water from the food court, but they don't open early enough in the morning for me.

My DH knows how much I hate that coffee taste in my hot water!! We used to run the water through the coffee maker too.

Before we left on our spring break trip to POR, he bought me a travel water heater. It's just an element that you stick inside your ceramic mug. Plug it in and the water heats up and then boils. Packs light for travel use. He bought it at the AAA store for about $12, I think. We always ended our nights at WDW with a hot cup of green tea in our POR room. Absolutely lovely!

I have never seen one of these but I will look for one. It sounds like a great item to take on vacation.

Can anyone tell me if there is somewhere to plug in a travel kettle in the rooms at POR? I usually take mine for making the tea as despite trying the hot water through the coffee makers it just didnt taste the same!

Do you think this would work with milk? DD4 and DS3 must have their warm milk before bed. This would make vacationing much easier.
