Hi All

Just looking for some feedback on the above item. My birthday is next week and hubby asked what I wanted, I am debating getting one of these. Saw one at Costco - 1 1/2 qt size for about $40.00.

Anyone have one, can you fill me in on the good and the bad? Thanks.

Dreaming of fresh strawberry ice cream this summer.

We have one and like it. I don't know what size we have, but it doesn't make a ton at once. The strawberry ice cream is the best in it though and I am not really a big fan of strawberries. :)

I keep meaning to put my bowl back in the freezer, so I can whip some up, but keep forgetting. Last summer, I always just stored the bowl in the freezer, so it was ready to go whenever I wanted it. (I think it has to be in the freezer for 6 hours before use) I think I am walking into the kitchen to do this now....thanks for the reminder.....

I picked ours up at Bed, Bath and Beyond with a coupon.

My sister just purchased the one from Costco as a gift. I'm leaning towards that one also because it comes with an extra bowl so you have two and can essential make two batches without needing to wait for the bowl to re-freeze.

We have one and make Dole whips in it. I got it with the two bowls. It is really great!

I had one and it was great but took a long time. I ended up getting rid of it when milk went crazy expensive last year. It cost too much to make. Now that milk is down again, it's cheaper but I never bothered to get another one.

I purchased mine at Sam's and love it. I haven't used it a ton but the times that I have, it has worked great. I made pistachio gelato that was fabulous.

I have one.

Pros:
Wonderful, delicious, rich, real ice cream
Fast
Fresh
Custom flavors
yummy

Cons:

See above and figure out how much weight you will gain.:laughing:

The first thing you should do after (or even before) your purchase is go online and get this:

I absolutely love my cuisinart ice cream maker!!! I use it almost weekly. Having two bowls is wonderful, I keep them in the freezer so I am always ready for a new batch. I am always looking for a new recipe. TiffanyK I am going straight to the store after work to get the ingredients for the coffee ice cream!

I second the Ben and Jerry's book. Ohhh my have they got some great recipes in there. popcorn::

Oh heck yes! I really like a DARK chocolate ice cream, not milky chocolate. The have a dark chocolate recipe that is awesome, especially if you add whole roasted almonds. Yummmmm

I actually just have a 15 dollar one from target. I LOVE IT, and it has definetly gotten its fair share of usage. I make ice cream at least twice a week (it has become a request from family members to have at home) I'm thinking about getting a second one so I can make 2 different kinds at once. my favorite part is that the buckets is plastic so if we're outside I just spray it out with the hose, and if we are inside in the dishwasher it goes.

I am so glad I found this thread. I dont know if you sold OP on it but you got me. I was looking for a good ice cream maker! Now I just have to get the B&J book too! Thanks:thumbsup2

I have the same Cusinart and love it. I stumbled upon the fact that plain pineapple juice makes an excellent sorbet. So easy and not even that bad for you!!:cool1:

I found this :

ngredients

* 2 cans (20 oz. each) DOLE crushed pineapple
* 2 tbsp. lemon juice
* 2 tbsp. lime juice
* 1/3 cup sugar
* 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped

Directions

1. Drain pineapple: reserve 2 tbsp. juice. Set aside.
2. Place pineapple, lemon juice, lime juice, sugar and reserved pineapple juice in blender. Cover and blend until smooth.
3. Pour into two 1-quart freezer zipped bags. Store bags flat in freezer. Freeze 1 1/2 hours or until slushy.
4. Stir pineapple slush gently into whipped cream until slightly blended in large bowl.
5. Return to freezer until completely frozen, about 1 hour and serve.

You could put this in your ice cream maker.

Thank you both. I'll have to give these a try. We've done mock Dole Whip floats before, but it's not quite the same.
