Ok I am back from my June 26-july 3 vacation to orlando..

1. We stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Resort..Overall I liked the room and the pool, but I didnt know there was no room service the whole week....Second It just felt wrong not staying at a disney hotel...I wont go to disney again without staying on the property...Ill wait an extra year or whatever just to save up!

2. Heat-Holy God...it was hot...93+ every day with a high humidity..It takes a toll on everyone and the kids..And makes for alot of moody people at the park..And I took all the precautions before i left...Misty Mate, fans etc etc..None really work against that sun...Taking it slow, drinking alot of water and remembering your on vacation are the only thing that work!

3. Parks-All were packed but fastpass is just plain awesome...Mission Space was awesome at epcot..The only ride i have ever seen that include barf bags on it!

4. hoop De Doo Review...DO THIS!!!...This is the most fun we had in a long time..Alot of food...ALOT of beer and just a good overall time...

5. Jimmy Buffetts Margarativille..We didnt inside Universal but we went to City Walk which i liked alot and we ate appetizers and drank alot of cool drinks there...Good time...

Overall it was real fun, but i have to say next time i will stay on site and not rent a car...and I will go in Feb not July!

And watch out for the crazy parents(not critizing anyone)...I cant believe the cut throat people that bring there kids to disney. We waited in line for 2 hours to get a parade spot and then some family comes up at 9:00 and tries to sit in front of u..

Then I got in a fight with a family..>there kids were throwing stuff at gorup of us sitting down below them...and then we asked the kids to stop...they didnt..one of us told security ...the mom yells at US..saying there just kids..and then the advice she gives her kids was " Guys just throw it in someone elses direction"...gotta love it!

Thanks

Amazing, you gotta love parents in the heat. Thanks for the post. We have been thinking about the review and just might try it at the end of the month.

wow your from bristol...I was born and lived in bristol til 2 years ago...i lived on brook st

Thanks for the report. I agree about staying onsite - there's just something about knowing you're on Disney property. :)

thanks for posting
we did HDD last trip and it was a highlight of the trip - we all laughed until it hurt - and you are right about the drinks - we still make jokes about mom drinking a mason jar of wine!

Recently I've heard that HDD was really hokey....(heck I don't think that is naturally a bad thing!) My family has PS for next month and I'm so glad to hear that it is fun!

Great post. We will be staying at the Vistana Resort in Sept. I've never stayed at a Disney resort so I can't compare it. There is always next time............thanks!

we were also there June 24-July 4 and either forgot how hot it does get or just blanked it out.......we stay at the All Star Movies for $69 a night (with special VISA rate). Keep plugging away for rates before you go--it really is not that expensive to stay on-site at one of the Value resorts, and the Disney magic is 24 hours a day. We also had rude family behaviors around us (see my thread....Illinois Family Just Back...do a search in trip reports board) and large south american student contigents as well. The heat is a major contributor, I'm sure. Now I can understand why crime spikes in the summer in major cities--tempers get short.

I totally agree about the All-Star Resorts. They're great, that's the only ones we stay at. And as you say, you can get great deals, cheaper than staying off-site and you don't need a rental car. Thanks for the reviews about HDD. We'll be going Dec. 10-14th and I've never done that but you say they have plenty of beer??? OK, we're there!!
