CSR or POFQ?

Which would you pick for 4 adults, two 10 year olds, a 3 year old and a 17 month old? I'm really torn between the two. I know that CSR has a great pool which the 10 year olds would love but POFQ has a nice pool too. How do the beds, mousekeeping, transportation, etc. compare?

I've not been to CSR, but I have to assume that the bedding and the mousekeeping are quite similar if not exactly the same.

As for transportation, I've never read serious complaints about CSR's. I know that POFQ's is great. POFQ, which has only one bus stop, often shares buses with POR, which has 4 bus stops. Buses go to POFQ first, and then go on to POR if there is still room on the bus. In my recent week at POFQ, I only remember going to POR two or three times after being picked up, and only one of those times did we ride the entire circuit around POR (it was usually just the first or "main" stop before going on to a park). On the way back to the resorts, buses always stop at POFQ first.

The sole exception is buses to and from Downtown Disney. Those buses go in the opposite order, picking up and dropping off at POR first.

In addition, POR and POFQ have boat transportation to DTD.

I prefer CSR. Better pool, no shared transportation and great food options. I di encounter problems leaving the parks with my kids and strollers. POR and POFQ share the same queue for loading but the yare dropped off first. Maybe a split stay if you are going for enough days?

Advantages to CSR --
main pool is larger
quiet pools scattered throughout resort
marina & surrey bike rental

Advantages to POFQ --
boat to DTD
smaller resort

You're specifics [beds, mousekeeping, transportation, etc...]
beds -- no real difference, but the ones at CSR "seem" to be less "used" to us
mousekeeping -- @ POFQ we've had mixed experiences, @ CSR we've had GREAT experiences (maybe b/c it's also a convention destination?)
transportation -- @ POFQ, you're first on the resort loop BUT buses also go to POR regularly, SO the buses don't get to the parks & such that much faster, but you're statistically more likely to get a seat, @ CSR we didnt' have any trouble with buses, either seating or noticeable delays (again, keep in mind that CSR often has a larger portion of people there for business, they don't TEND to go to parks a lot)
etc... -- food -- we prefer the food court @ POFQ, it's smaller & the selection is more limited, it's what we like; the food court @ CSR (Pepper Market) has more variety

I'm not sure about CSR, but POFQ has recently undergone renovations/refurbishment. So I think that things like carpet, bedding, etc. would be pretty new. When I was at POR in May, I heard a CM telling a guest that POR had had some renovating, but that POFQ's was more extensive.

I love CSR!! Check out these threads and visit my CSR website below. CSR was rehabbed in late 2004/early 2005.

Best Food Court – Voted by DIS’ers
Pepper Market. Huge portions, great choices and tasty food. Lunch/Dinner Menu

Best Pool – Voted by Dis’ers
Best mod pool. It offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, and a playground at the main pool area.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I guess we're going to have to make a list of pros and cons of each resort.

i had the same question a few weeks back and went with pofq one of my big reasons was the food court which i use a lot. the pepper mill at csr is not a typical food court. they have a wait staff that you tip, that is charged to your food. i hear the food is great but i like a regular food court.

We did a split stay with CSR and POFQ a few years ago. CSR was our favorite by far!!!

CSR is my vote. The pool area at POFQ is too small and my kids (9 and 11 at the time) thought the slide was boring. The main pool at CSR is incredible. And the grounds are incredible. At POFQ, we missed the quiet pools of the more spread out mods. POFQ is very nice and charming and I know many prefer it for the compact size. My family on the other hand, likes the spread out resorts so POFQ felt a bit limited to us. I didn't hate it, we just prefer the other mods over it.

Also, CSR does not share buses. Even though POFQ is picked up first, at night when they are sharing buses between FQ and Riverside, it really stinks.

I really like them both. POFQ has an intimate feel - everything is close. CSR feels newer and shinier - just bigger in every way. I don't think there's one right answer - emotionally it boils down to which feels like more fun to you.

On the practical side, I would factor into my decision whether or not I'd be on the DDP, and how much I might want to eat at the resort. If you're on the food plan CSR is a good value because Pepper Market counts as counter service. The opposite is true, however, if you're paying for the food out of pocket. Then CSR is going to be more expensive, possibly a lot more given the size of your family and the ages of the kids, if you plan on eating at the resort more than once or twice.

You will love POFQ for the younger ones! We stayed at POFQ in November. It was perfect for our family. The kids fell asleep on the bus ride back so not far to carry them back to the room. We stayed in building 4. We requested when we arrived close to bus stop and food court. The food court was great and the people working there were very helpful! My DD6 had to stay at POFQ for the slide. She loved it when she saw it but when she went down she was upset that it was so tame. The boat ride to downtown is great to have. Being the first on first off is nice. I didn't mind we shared buses with POR. It's only 4 stops total if the bus doesn't fill up. All the moderates have 4 or more stops. You have to take the horse drawn carriage ride that starts at POR and then goes around both POR and POFQ. It's wonderful at dusk.
Now that I praise POFQ I'll tell you in July were going to CSR. This was my second choice last trip and I want to give it a try this time. The pool, slide and dig site look like fun. I love the theme. I think we will enjoy this one too.
I think either choice you will be happy with! Look at the theme and decide what's important for you. Enjoy!

ummm... not quite! The Pepper Market has a partial wait staff - they will seat you and bring a drink. The tip is NOT included in your food price. If you are paying OOP, then you can choose to leave a small tip or not, same as any other restaurant. If using DDP, then your meal is 1 CS credit, and the tip is included in your credit. The Pepper Market does have a wide variety of food, including a mexican bar, a grill (typical food court offerings), pizza, a pasta bar, sandwiches, etc. Most of the food is cooked to order, so it is hot and fresh.

Is this a recent change??? It always used to be that a 10% service charge (whether cash or DDP) was added to all food purchases right at the cash register, no option given.

We used DDP, so can't swear about when paying with cash. DDP does add the tip, but it is paid by Disney - same as with the TS tip. We had a $50 lunch tab, and paid nothing OOP.

POFQ not only is smaller (which is nice when your tired at the end of the day)...but it does have a nice pool. Plus you can also use the pool at it's sister resort POR.
